India vs Australia 5th T20 : India Makes Changes to Playing XI, Australia Stays Unchanged

Published on

In the fifth and final T20 match of the series, India made one change to their playing XI, while Australia opted to field the same lineup as before. Once again, India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, lost the toss. Mitchell Marsh, the Australian captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first, continuing Australia’s successful approach.

India Leads the Series 2-1

This match is crucial as it will decide the winner of the series. India currently leads the series 2-1, and if they win this match or if the game is canceled for any reason, they will secure the series victory. However, if Australia wins, the series will be tied at 2-2. The pressure is on Australia to avoid losing the series on their home ground, making this a must-win game for them.

India Makes Key Change to Playing XI

For this important match, India made a significant change to their playing XI. Tilak Varma, who plays with Suryakumar Yadav at Mumbai Indians, was not included in the playing XI. Tilak was the player who played a brilliant innings in the Asia Cup 2025 final, leading India to victory. Instead, India included Rinku Singh, the finisher, in the squad. This change could also mean that Suryakumar Yadav might return to his usual position at number 3 in the batting order. On the other hand, Australia made no changes to their playing XI, sticking with their winning combination.

Playing XIs of Both Teams

India’s playing XI consists of Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia’s playing XI includes Mitchell Marsh (captain), Matthew Short, Josh Inglis (wicketkeeper), Tim David, Josh Philippe, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Adam Zampa.

This fifth T20 is crucial for both teams. With India leading the series, they have the upper hand. However, Australia will fight hard to level the series and avoid defeat on home soil. The match is set to be a thrilling contest, with both teams eager to end the series on a high.
