Shanaya Nishant secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 92 in the CSIR-NET examination and has qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Her twin sister, Shonaya Nishant, has also successfully qualified for the CSIR-NET examination. Both sisters appeared for the examination in Zoology.
The sisters completed their postgraduate education in Zoology from L.S. College, Muzaffarpur, where they earned their M.Sc. degrees. After completing their postgraduate studies, they continued their preparation for the competitive examination while staying in their native village in Minapur and maintained a disciplined self-study routine.
Success Through Self-Study from Their Village
While many aspirants preparing for national-level competitive examinations move to metropolitan cities and established coaching hubs, Shanaya and Shonaya chose to continue their preparation from Minapur. Their success stands out as they relied primarily on self-study, consistent effort and disciplined preparation.
Shanaya’s All India Rank 92 and qualification for JRF adds further significance to the achievement. The JRF qualification will open opportunities for her to pursue advanced research and higher education, including a possible career in academia and research.
From Postgraduate Studies to Research
Qualifying CSIR-NET after completing an M.Sc. in Zoology marks an important milestone in the academic journey of both sisters. For Shanaya, qualifying for JRF provides an opportunity to take the next step towards doctoral research and a career in higher education and scientific research.

The sisters have also acknowledged the continued guidance and support they received from their teachers during their academic journey. Prof. Vipin Kumar has remained a consistent source of academic guidance for both sisters during their postgraduate studies and thereafter. His continued mentorship and guidance have been an important part of their academic journey.
Father Calls Their Achievement a Moment of Pride
Their father, Kaushlendra Jha, expressed his happiness over his daughters’ achievement and said, “Seeing our daughters succeed is a moment of immense pride for our family. This success would not have been possible without the guidance and support of their teachers and mentors. In particular, the guidance provided by Prof. Vipin Kumar has always been highly appreciable. He continued to guide both of them during their postgraduate studies and even thereafter.”
He further said that the achievement was the result of his daughters’ dedication and hard work, combined with the guidance they received from their teachers and mentors.
The success of Shanaya and Shonaya serves as an inspiration for students from rural areas and smaller towns who aspire to succeed in national-level competitive examinations. Their journey demonstrates that consistent effort, disciplined self-study, proper guidance and determination can create a path to success even without moving away from one’s hometown.
