RRB Group D Exam 2025 : Important Updates and Selection Process

Published on

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released an important notice regarding the Group D Level-1 recruitment exams. According to the latest notification, candidates whose exams were not scheduled in the first phase will now have their exams conducted after December 12, 2025. These exams will be part of the second or upcoming phases of the recruitment process. The RRB Guwahati has clarified that the detailed exam schedule will be published on the official Railway Recruitment Board website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website for further updates.

RRB Group D Exam Schedule and Admit Card Details

The RRB Group D recruitment exam is scheduled to take place from November 27, 2025, to January 16, 2026. For the exams scheduled on November 27 and 28, the admit cards have already been released. Candidates can download their admit cards four days before the scheduled exam date. This update ensures that candidates are well-prepared and informed about the process well in advance.

Recruitment for 32,438 Group D Posts in Indian Railways

The RRB Group D recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 32,438 vacancies across various posts in Indian Railways. The positions include a wide range of technical and operational roles, such as Assistant (Signal and Telecom), Assistant (Workshop), Assistant Bridge, Assistant (Carriage and Wagon), Assistant Loco Shed (Diesel), Assistant Loco Shed (Electrical), Assistant Operation (Electrical), Assistant P.Way, Assistant TL & AC (Workshop), Assistant TL & AC, Assistant Track Machine, Assistant TRD, Pointsman, and Track Maintainer-IV. This recruitment is a significant opportunity for job seekers looking to work in the Indian Railways sector.

Computer-Based Test (CBT) Pattern

The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Group D recruitment will consist of 100 questions to be answered in 90 minutes. The exam will be divided into four sections:

  • General Science (25 questions)

  • Mathematics (25 questions)

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning (30 questions)

  • General Awareness and Current Affairs (20 questions)

Each incorrect answer will result in a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. The RRB will implement a normalization method to calculate the marks for the CBT. The top three times the number of vacancies will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) based on their performance in the CBT.

Minimum Passing Criteria for CBT

The minimum qualifying marks for the CBT exam are as follows:

  • UR (Unreserved): 40%

  • EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): 40%

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30%

  • SC (Scheduled Caste): 30%

  • ST (Scheduled Tribe): 30%

Candidates must secure these minimum percentages to be eligible for the next stages of the recruitment process, including the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

Group D Selection Process

The selection process for the RRB Group D exam involves several stages. The first step is the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which is a crucial stage of the recruitment process. Candidates who successfully clear the CBT will then be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET is designed to assess the physical fitness of candidates and includes tasks such as running and other physical exercises. Candidates who pass the PET will move forward to the next stages, including Document Verification and a Medical Examination.

The entire recruitment process is structured to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are selected for various roles in the Indian Railways. The combination of the CBT and PET ensures that candidates possess both the required knowledge and physical fitness for these important positions.

Document Verification and Medical Test

After successfully passing the PET, candidates will undergo Document Verification (DV). During the DV stage, candidates will be required to submit their original documents for verification, such as educational qualifications, age proof, and other relevant documents. The medical examination will follow to ensure that candidates meet the medical standards required for the positions.

The RRB Group D exam is a significant recruitment opportunity for individuals aiming to work with the Indian Railways. With a total of 32,438 vacancies across various posts, this recruitment drive is expected to attract a large number of applicants. The exam will be conducted in multiple phases, starting from November 27, 2025, and continuing until January 16, 2026. Candidates should stay updated with the latest notifications and admit card releases on the RRB website.

As the recruitment process involves multiple stages, including the CBT, PET, Document Verification, and Medical Examination, candidates should prepare thoroughly for each stage to increase their chances of success. By adhering to the guidelines and maintaining regular check-ins on the official Railway Recruitment Board website, candidates can ensure they are well-prepared for this important examination.
