KKN Gurugram Desk |  In a major development for rail passengers in Jharkhand, the Indian Railways is set to resume services of 20 passenger trains that had been temporarily halted due to the ongoing development work at Baidyanath Dham Station. Starting from today, April 1, 2025, all these trains will begin running once again, offering great relief to the local commuters.

Baidyanath Dham Station Development: A Major Transformation Underway

Baidyanath Dham Station, one of the oldest stations dating back to the British era, is currently undergoing extensive development. The Eastern Railway has taken the decision to revamp the station to modern standards, making it more efficient and passenger-friendly. As part of this development initiative, railway services to and from Baidyanath Dham Station had been temporarily suspended for several months.

The closure of services was essential to carry out vital infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Rohini Bypass. The suspension was initially planned to last until March 31, 2025, and the trains resumed operations on April 1, 2025, as originally scheduled. This marks a significant milestone for rail commuters in the region, who will now benefit from enhanced services and improved connectivity.

Overhead Wire Maintenance and Infrastructure Upgrades

As part of the station’s development, the overhead wire maintenance work from Jasidih to Baidyanath Dham has been completed successfully. This is an important step in ensuring smooth and uninterrupted train services between the two locations. In addition to this, all track-related work and operational procedures have been finalized, and the respective authorities have been duly informed.

Additionally, Gate No. 5 at the Purandaha crossing has been permanently closed to enhance safety and ensure smooth operations. For the convenience of pedestrians and vehicles, the Railway has constructed an underpass, ensuring that the flow of traffic is not hindered. Similarly, Gate No. 6 will be permanently shut down by April 15, 2025, and an underpass will be ready for public use by that time. The approach roads near the underpass are also under rapid construction to facilitate smoother movement.

Improved Drainage System to Prevent Waterlogging

The rainy season often brings waterlogging issues in underpasses, but this will not be the case here. The newly constructed underpasses, near Gates No. 5 and 6, are designed with a robust drainage system to prevent any water accumulation. Both approach roads for the underpasses are equipped with proper drainage facilities, ensuring that waterlogging issues do not occur, even during heavy rains.

The distance between the approach roads of Gates 5 and 6 is only about 10 meters. However, vehicles using Gate No. 5 will not be able to access Gate No. 6’s road, ensuring that there will be no traffic congestion. Furthermore, a large drainage system is being installed between the roads to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth traffic flow. This careful planning addresses potential challenges such as traffic jams and water accumulation, especially during the monsoon season.

Resumption of 20 Passenger Trains

From today, April 1, 2025, the following 20 passenger trains will resume operations, offering enhanced travel options to passengers:

  1. 63169 Jasidih-Baidyanath Dham MEMU Passenger

Impact on Local Commuters and Economy

The resumption of these 20 passenger trains is expected to have a significant positive impact on both local commuters and the regional economy. With the development of Baidyanath Dham Station, there will be improved amenities, making travel more comfortable and accessible for passengers.

Moreover, the improved connectivity will benefit pilgrims visiting the Baidyanath Dham, one of the holiest religious destinations in India, which attracts thousands of devotees each year. The enhanced railway services will not only ease travel for pilgrims but will also help local businesses thrive by providing better access to tourists and customers.

Additionally, the development of new infrastructure, such as underpasses and improved drainage systems, will contribute to the overall safety and convenience of passengers, further boosting confidence in the region’s transport services.

Future Developments and Upgrades at Baidyanath Dham Station

The development work at Baidyanath Dham Station is far from over. Railway officials have stated that there are several more improvements planned for the station, including modernized waiting areas, enhanced security systems, and upgraded platforms. These improvements are part of a long-term strategy to make the station one of the most efficient and well-equipped railway hubs in the region.

Additionally, the ongoing maintenance of the overhead wires and other electrical infrastructure ensures that the station and its connecting services can handle the increased volume of passengers efficiently.

With the resumption of 20 passenger trains, Baidyanath Dham Station is poised for a new era of growth and development. The enhanced infrastructure, including the underpasses, improved drainage systems, and ongoing station upgrades, will make travel safer, more efficient, and more comfortable for passengers. For the people of Jharkhand, this is a welcome change that will ease their daily commute and provide better connectivity to other parts of the state and beyond.
