KKN Gurugram Desk | In the aftermath of India’s missile strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan, a move carried out in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, reactions have emerged both in support and criticism. While the nation largely celebrated the strong military retaliation, several Pakistani artists—previously banned from working in India—have drawn heavy criticism for calling the operation an act of “cowardice.”

Taking strong exception to these remarks, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a public statement condemning Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan for their alleged anti-India sentiments. The association called their comments not only disrespectful to the country but also insulting to martyred Indian soldiers and victims of terrorism.
🇮🇳 Background: India Responds to Pahalgam Terror Attack
Fifteen days after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed several civilian and military lives, India conducted precision missile strikes targeting nine terror launchpads across the Line of Control (LoC) inside Pakistani territory.
The operation, termed a direct response to cross-border terrorism, reportedly neutralized over 100 terrorists and destroyed critical infrastructure used for planning and executing attacks in India.
AICWA Issues Statement Condemning Pakistani Actors
The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a detailed response following controversial remarks from Pakistani celebrities. The organization highlighted that Mahira Khan allegedly called India’s military strike an “act of cowardice”, while Fawad Khan, instead of denouncing terrorism, targeted India and made inflammatory statements.
“These statements are not only a direct insult to our nation, but also a disgrace to the sacrifices of brave Indian soldiers and innocent civilians who have lost their lives due to terrorism,” AICWA stated.
Renewed Call for Ban on Pakistani Artists in Indian Entertainment Industry
Reaffirming its earlier stance, AICWA reiterated a complete ban on Pakistani actors, filmmakers, musicians, and producers from working in the Indian film industry. The association emphasized that:
-
No Indian actor should collaborate with Pakistani artists.
-
No Indian film or music production house should hire or promote Pakistani talent.
-
Pakistani artists should not be allowed to share international platforms with Indian counterparts.
Music Companies Also Under Fire
AICWA didn’t stop at actors—it also criticized Indian music companies for continuing to promote Pakistani singers and composers. Several Indian artists have been seen performing alongside Pakistani counterparts at foreign concerts and festivals, something AICWA calls “a betrayal of national sentiment.”
The association urged these companies and individuals to “stop supporting Pakistani talent and stand with the nation.”
“It’s unfortunate that some Indian music labels continue to give platforms to those who mock India’s sovereignty,” the statement said.
‘Abir Gulal’ Team Targeted for Casting Fawad Khan
The film Abir Gulal, which controversially cast Fawad Khan even after the Pulwama attack in 2019, was also called out by AICWA. The association accused the filmmakers of disregarding national sentiment and dishonoring the martyrs by associating with a Pakistani actor known for anti-India rhetoric.
“What message are these filmmakers sending to the public by working with such individuals?” AICWA questioned, adding that the film’s promotional events in India were “a slap in the face to the nation’s emotions.”
🇮🇳 “Stand with India or Stand with Anti-India Voices”: AICWA’s Message to Bollywood
AICWA has issued a direct appeal to all professionals in the Indian film and television industry, whether in Bollywood or regional cinema:
-
Support the official boycott of Pakistani artists.
-
Refuse to work on projects involving them, directly or indirectly.
-
Avoid sharing any professional or public stage with individuals who “speak against India under the guise of free speech.”
“Those who disrespect the nation do not deserve to be part of our entertainment industry. There is no space for neutrality when national security is involved.”
Broader Reactions and Social Media Sentiment
The AICWA’s strong message has triggered a massive debate online. Social media users largely stood in support of the association, calling for a complete cultural boycott of Pakistan until terrorism is eradicated from its soil.
Some users pointed out the double standards of certain Pakistani celebrities, who remain silent during terror attacks but speak out when India retaliates.
Controversial Remarks by Pakistani Celebrities
The following comments have stirred national outrage:
-
Mahira Khan: Called India’s missile strikes an act of “cowardice” on social media.
-
Fawad Khan: Refused to condemn the Pahalgam attack and instead issued a statement ending with “Pakistan Zindabad”, which many in India perceived as insensitive and provocative.
In another related post, Pakistani actress Hania Amir labeled India’s response as “shameful,” which further ignited anger among Indian netizens.
AICWA concluded its statement with a firm nationalistic tone, asserting that India comes first, before art, business, or cultural exchange.
“Freedom of speech cannot be a shield for anti-national propaganda. We stand firmly with our armed forces and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.”
The association demanded that the Indian government and private stakeholders maintain strict cultural disengagement from Pakistan until there’s meaningful change in its policies on terrorism.
