Pahalgam Terror Attack: Aftermath, Security Operations, and NIA Investigation – Complete Analysis

Jammu and Kashmir Terrorist Attack: Tourists Shot in Pahalgam, Security Forces Launch Search Operation

KKN Gurugram Desk | Following the brutal terror attack on Hindus in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir security forces have intensified their counter-terror operations across the valley. As part of the crackdown, houses of at least nine known terrorists have been demolished through controlled explosions.

Key operations include the destruction of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Amir Nazir’s house in Tral, Pulwama. Another major target was Amir Nazir Wani’s house in Khassipora, Pulwama, which was blown up as part of the anti-terror operations.

Earlier in Shopian district’s Wandina area, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Adnan Shafi’s house was demolished. Shafi had reportedly joined the terror outfit nearly a year ago. Similarly, in Kupwara, the house of terrorist Farooq Ahmad was destroyed. These actions mark a strategic shift in Kashmir’s counter-insurgency policy – hitting terrorists’ support infrastructure to dismantle militant networks permanently.

NIA Takes Over Investigation into Pahalgam Attack

The Union Home Ministry has transferred the investigation of the Pahalgam terror attack to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA will now formally obtain case files and FIRs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to sources, NIA teams have already been camping in Pahalgam since the attack occurred. Forensic teams have started collecting critical evidence from the blast site to trace the conspiracy behind the massacre.
This move signals a strong central resolve to not just punish perpetrators but also dismantle the entire terror ecosystem operating in the valley.

Kupwara Firing: Civilian Casualty Amid Heightened Tensions

Meanwhile, the tense atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir saw another tragic incident. In Kupwara district, close to the Line of Control (LoC), unknown gunmen opened fire, critically injuring a 45-year-old civilian who later succumbed to his injuries.

The attack underscores the rising threat perception along the sensitive LoC belt and has prompted increased vigilance and security measures in the region.

Civilian Movement Restricted Near LoC Post Pahalgam Attack

In response to heightened threats following the Pahalgam massacre, authorities have restricted civilian movement in areas adjacent to the LoC, especially in Kupwara.
Only security convoys are being permitted to move along the forward defense lines, and extensive road search operations have been launched by the armed forces.

The restrictions aim to ensure no infiltration or cross-border support for terrorists operating in the region.

64 Locations Raided: UAPA Cases Filed Against Terror Supporters

In a parallel operation to dismantle the terror-support network in Kashmir, security agencies have raided 64 locations across Srinagar and its adjoining districts.
Cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been registered against several overground workers (OGWs) who allegedly provided logistical support to terrorists.

From these operations:

  • Two key aides of terrorists were arrested from Kulgam.

  • Investigations have revealed the involvement of suspected operatives linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Islamic State (ISJK), and The Resistance Front (TRF).

The sweeping action against terror supporters is being seen as a crucial step towards eradicating terrorism’s grassroots support in Kashmir.

Pahalgam Attack: 15 Local Supporters Identified

Emerging reports suggest that around 15 local Kashmiris played a crucial role in aiding the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack.
Electronic surveillance and intelligence gathering have helped authorities identify these individuals, who allegedly provided shelter, transportation, and logistical support, including weapons smuggling assistance from Pakistan.

This revelation highlights the deep infiltration of terrorist networks into local communities, which security forces are now aggressively working to neutralize.

Road Searching Operations Intensified in Kupwara

Amid threats of fresh infiltration attempts and cross-border firing from Pakistan, security forces have intensified road-search operations in Kupwara district.
Heavy deployment and patrolling are being carried out to sanitize routes leading to critical forward posts.

The move comes after reports of increased movements near the LoC, signaling attempts by militant groups to exploit the current situation.

Pakistan’s Role Under Scrutiny Amid Rising Tensions

After the Pahalgam terror attack, and with sporadic firing incidents along the LoC, suspicions regarding Pakistan’s role in supporting or orchestrating the attacks have grown.
Security forces have warned of the potential for escalations if infiltration attempts continue.

International observers are closely watching the developments, and the Indian government is preparing dossiers highlighting Pakistan’s involvement, to be shared with international agencies if needed.
