RRB Group D Vacancy 2025 : 62,460 Positions for Level 1, What You Need to Know

Published on

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is expected to release a massive recruitment notification for Group D positions in 2025. Recently, a notice has gone viral on social media regarding the recruitment for 62,460 Group D vacancies. The notice mentions that the recruitment will be for Level 1 positions and provides details regarding the medical standards, age limits, and other essential information. However, it is important to note that this notification has not been officially released by the Railway Recruitment Board yet. No official notice has been posted on any RRB website.

Despite the viral notice, candidates are eagerly awaiting the release of the official Group D recruitment notification. Presently, the exam for 32,000 Group D vacancies is ongoing. Meanwhile, the recruitment for other posts like NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) for 12th-grade and graduate level, ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot), Technician, and Isolated Posts has already been completed. The Group D (Level-1) recruitment is the next major announcement that candidates are waiting for.

Expected Positions in the Upcoming Group D Recruitment

The upcoming Group D recruitment will fill a variety of posts across different railway departments. Some of the potential positions include Assistant (S&T), Assistant (Workshop), Assistant Bridge, Assistant Carriage and Wagon, Assistant Loco Shed (Diesel), Assistant Loco Shed (Electrical), Assistant Operations (Electrical), Assistant P.Way, Assistant TL & AC (Workshop), Assistant TL & AC, Assistant Track Machine, Assistant TRD, Pointsman B, and Track Maintainer-IV. These positions are part of the broader railway workforce and will be crucial in maintaining railway operations.

Eligibility Criteria for RRB Group D Recruitment 2025

Based on past recruitment patterns and the viral notice, here are the key eligibility criteria for the RRB Group D (Level-1) recruitment:

Educational Qualification

Candidates who have passed the 10th grade or possess an ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification are eligible to apply for these positions.

Age Limit

Candidates between the ages of 18 to 36 years are eligible to apply for the Group D vacancies. For OBC candidates, there is a 3-year age relaxation, and for SC/ST candidates, the relaxation is 5 years. The age calculation will be based on January 1, 2025.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Group D recruitment will be based on two main stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who pass the CBT will be called for the PET. The CBT will be a single-stage exam, followed by PET, document verification, and medical examination.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern and CBT Details

The Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the RRB Group D recruitment will consist of 100 questions in total. The subjects and the number of questions from each category are as follows:

  • General Science: 25 questions

  • Mathematics: 25 questions

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 questions

  • General Awareness and Current Affairs: 20 questions

The total duration of the CBT will be 90 minutes. Candidates should note that there will be a negative marking system, where one-third of the marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The CBT will also use the normalization method to calculate the final marks.

Minimum Passing Marks for CBT

The minimum passing marks for the CBT will be different for each category. They are as follows:

  • UR (Unreserved): 40%

  • EWS (Economically Weaker Sections): 40%

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30%

  • SC/ST: 30%

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Details

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be conducted to assess the physical fitness of the candidates. The standards for the PET are different for male and female candidates.

For Male Candidates

  • Carry a weight of 35 kilograms for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes.

  • Run 1000 meters in 4 minutes and 15 seconds.

For Female Candidates

  • Carry a weight of 20 kilograms for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes.

  • Run 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds.

These physical tests will be a crucial part of the selection process and will determine a candidate’s eligibility for the next stages.

Application Process and Fees

Candidates can apply for only one railway zone. If an individual applies for multiple RRBs, their applications will be rejected. However, candidates can apply for multiple positions within the same RRB. It is important to note that a single online application can cover multiple positions under the same RRB, so there is no need to fill out separate applications.

The application fee for the Group D recruitment will be as follows:

  • General, OBC, and EWS candidates will need to pay an application fee of INR 500.

  • However, if candidates appear for the first stage of the CBT, INR 400 will be refunded.

Salary and Pay Scale

Selected candidates for Group D (Level-1) positions will receive a pay scale of INR 18,000 per month. This salary will be the starting pay for these positions, and the compensation may increase based on seniority and other factors.

The RRB Group D Vacancy 2025 announcement is highly anticipated, as it will offer thousands of opportunities for candidates across India. With 62,460 vacancies expected for Level-1 positions, the recruitment process will be competitive. Candidates should prepare for the Computer-Based Test and the Physical Efficiency Test, as both will play a crucial role in the selection process. The application process is straightforward, but candidates should be mindful of the age limits, educational qualifications, and physical standards required. With the viral notice sparking excitement, hopeful candidates are eagerly waiting for the official notification to be released by the Railway Recruitment Board.
