KKN Gurugram Desk |  In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked public outcry and raised serious questions, a Home Guard jawan allegedly shot himself with his government-issued rifle inside the Assav Police Station premises in Siwan district, Bihar. The jawan, identified as 33-year-old Rajkumar God, died on the spot after a bullet struck him in the head.

The incident occurred early Monday morning and has since turned into a controversial case as the deceased’s family members strongly suspect foul play, rejecting the official version of events that claims it was a case of suicide.

Who Was the Deceased?

The deceased, Rajkumar God, was a resident of Tikulia village under the Daroli police station area in Siwan. He had been serving as a Home Guard and was posted at Assav Police Station at the time of the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that the sound of a gunshot sent officers rushing to the location, where they found Rajkumar lying in a pool of blood. Initial assessments suggested that he had used his own service rifle to shoot himself, but no suicide note or message was recovered at the scene.

Family Refuses to Accept Suicide Theory

Soon after news of the incident spread, Rajkumar’s family members arrived at Assav Police Station and created a scene, demanding an explanation for the sudden and tragic death. His grieving wife, visibly distraught, categorically denied that her husband had taken his own life.

“My husband was not the kind of man who would commit suicide. He has been murdered,” she alleged, while demanding an immediate and impartial investigation.

The family also refused to allow the police to send the body for post-mortem, insisting that an investigation must be conducted first to determine the actual cause of death.

Police and Officials Struggle to Maintain Order

In response to the growing tension, SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) Gauri Kumari of Maharajganj Sadar-2 arrived at the station along with a police force to control the situation and attempt to pacify the agitated family. Despite her efforts to assure the family of a fair inquiry, the relatives remained adamant.

Sources say that SDPO Gauri Kumari tried repeatedly to persuade the family members to allow post-mortem examination, which is a legal prerequisite in unnatural death cases. However, the emotionally charged atmosphere made it difficult to proceed.

After multiple failed attempts, the SDPO eventually left the scene, and as of late Monday evening, the body had still not been sent for autopsy.

Key Issues and Unanswered Questions

1. Was it Really a Suicide?

The primary question that remains unanswered is whether Rajkumar God actually committed suicide or whether he was the victim of a deliberate homicide staged to look like a suicide. With no note left behind and no immediate explanation for such an extreme step, doubts have naturally arisen.

2. What Was His Mental State?

There is currently no official report on whether Rajkumar was under any mental distress, facing harassment, or involved in any professional dispute that could have led him to such a decision.

3. Why Was There No Immediate Action Taken for Post-Mortem?

Under Indian law, any death within a police facility is automatically treated as a sensitive case requiring thorough documentation and a forensic post-mortem. The delay in sending the body for examination is raising questions about procedural lapses.

Legal and Administrative Implications

This incident is not just a personal tragedy, but also a serious institutional issue. If the jawan indeed committed suicide, it points toward potential neglect, pressure, or systemic issues within the department that must be investigated.

However, if it was a case of murder, then it reflects even more gravely on the state of law enforcement and internal accountability. The fact that the death occurred within police premises significantly intensifies the onus on local authorities to act transparently and swiftly.

Public Reaction and Media Attention

The incident has drawn widespread attention, especially across local and digital media in Bihar. On social media platforms, users are demanding:

  • Immediate suspension of officials on duty during the incident

  • A CBI or independent inquiry

  • Timely post-mortem and release of forensic details

  • Mental health support and counseling for police and paramilitary personnel

What Happens Next?

The district administration and senior police officials are expected to intervene and issue a statement soon. Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on the Siwan district police to handle the matter with sensitivity, responsibility, and transparency.

The outcome of the autopsy (once allowed) and subsequent investigation will be crucial in determining whether Rajkumar’s death was truly a suicide, or something far more sinister.

The tragic death of Home Guard Rajkumar God in Siwan has exposed multiple cracks in the system—from mental health support in security forces to the way such sensitive cases are handled.

For now, one family continues to mourn and demand justice, while the state machinery scrambles to provide answers. Only a transparent and thorough investigation can bring closure to this shocking and controversial case.
