Zubin Garg’s Death: Assam Police Arrest Musician and Singer in Connection to the Case

Published on

The tragic death of renowned singer Zubin Garg has taken a shocking turn with Assam Police arresting two key individuals in connection with the case. Musician Shakharjyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahanta were apprehended on Thursday after their involvement in the incident was discovered. Both were present at the yacht party in Singapore on September 19, where Zubin Garg’s untimely death occurred under suspicious circumstances.

Police Arrest Two Key Individuals in the Case

According to police officials, crucial evidence surfaced during questioning, leading to the arrest of the two individuals. Goswami and Mahanta were involved in the incident where Zubin Garg, who had been swimming, was later found unconscious in the water. The video footage from the event shows Goswami floating very close to Zubin, and Mahanta, on the other hand, was seen recording the entire incident on her mobile phone.

The police investigation also led to the arrest of Zubin Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and the organizer of the Northeast India Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta, from Delhi. Both individuals had been linked to the incident, and the police have now charged them with murder under Section 103 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After their arrest, they were brought to Guwahati and remanded to 14 days of police custody by the court. Special DGP of CID, Munna Prasad Gupta, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the decision to add charges of murder was based on the evidence gathered so far.

Postmortem Reports Pending for Further Clarity

Zubin Garg’s first postmortem was conducted in Singapore, and the report is expected to be handed over to his family soon. Meanwhile, the second postmortem conducted in Guwahati has also added another layer of intrigue. The viscera report from this second postmortem is awaited from the Central Forensic Lab in Delhi, and it will only be made public after its arrival. These reports will play a critical role in determining the exact cause of death and whether foul play was involved.

SIT Formed to Investigate the Case Further

A nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the CID is currently working on the case. The team is expected to travel to Singapore soon, as the Indian government has sent a formal request under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) to investigate the matter further. The SIT’s efforts will focus on gathering more evidence and establishing the exact sequence of events leading to Zubin Garg’s death.

Shyamkanu Mahanta’s Alleged Financial Misconduct Under Investigation

In a parallel development, the police have also initiated an investigation into Shyamkanu Mahanta for alleged financial misconduct. Mahanta is being investigated for money laundering and the possession of benami properties. During a raid on his residence, several PAN cards, more than 30 stamp seals, and a number of suspicious documents were recovered. The police are now scrutinizing these documents to understand the extent of any illegal activities Mahanta may have been involved in.

Details About Zubin Garg’s Tragic Death

Zubin Garg, 52, had traveled to Singapore on September 19 to participate in the Northeast India Festival. On the day of the event, he attended a yacht party and later went swimming. Unfortunately, he was found unconscious in the water shortly after. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Zubin Garg was declared dead upon arrival. The circumstances surrounding his death have raised several questions, leading to a thorough investigation by the police.

The arrest of Shakharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, along with the continued inquiry into Shyamkanu Mahanta’s financial dealings, has kept the investigation moving forward. While the postmortem reports are expected to provide further clarity, the case remains under intense scrutiny.

The death of Zubin Garg, a beloved singer and musician, has shocked his fans and the music community. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on uncovering the truth behind his tragic death. The involvement of high-profile individuals in this case has added a layer of complexity, but the police are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.

As more details emerge, including the awaited postmortem reports and further investigations into the financial activities of those involved, it is clear that this case will take time to unfold. The people of Assam and the fans of Zubin Garg are hoping for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure that justice is served.
