Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) will conduct on-spot undergraduate admissions between August 20 and August 30. The announcement was made on Thursday by Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) Professor Alok Pratap Singh. He confirmed that the Vice Chancellor has issued instructions for the on-spot admission process.

During this period, students will also have the option to edit their subjects and change colleges through the university’s online portal. Additionally, the portal will remain open for new applications.
Third Merit List Admission Completed
On August 14, BRABU completed the admission process for the third merit list. By Thursday afternoon, 93,000 students had secured admission. The third merit list included 45,655 names, out of which 6,000 admissions were updated by colleges.
This year, BRABU received 1,68,000 undergraduate applications. Initially, 1,59,000 students applied, followed by 8,989 additional applications. Students who did not take admission in the first and second merit lists were also included in the third list.
Admission Across 139 Colleges
For the current academic year, admissions are scheduled across 139 colleges affiliated with BRABU. However, admissions in 21 colleges remain uncertain despite approval from the university senate.
Although the senate cleared these proposals four months ago, they have not yet been forwarded to the state government. Investigations into these colleges are still ongoing. These institutions had applied for affiliation for the 2025–2029 academic session.
21 Colleges Still Await Approval
Out of 36 new college applications for the new session, 15 have passed inspection and their proposals have been sent to the government. The remaining 21 colleges are still under review at the university. BRABU authorities have stated that these proposals will be forwarded to the government only after inspections are complete.
Several colleges have also requested an increase in available seats. In a recent meeting, it was decided that the seat increase will be considered after the third merit list admissions are completed. University officials may review seat expansion before the start of the on-spot admission round.
Expectations from On-Spot Admission
The on-spot admission process is expected to fill remaining seats and provide opportunities to students who missed earlier rounds. With the portal open for both new applicants and changes to existing preferences, the university aims to maximize enrolment before the academic year begins.
Students and parents are advised to keep track of updates on the BRABU portal to ensure they complete all formalities within the scheduled dates.
