KKN Gurugram Desk | In a harrowing incident early Saturday morning, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, narrowly escaped a major road accident when a speeding truck collided with his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The mishap resulted in injuries to three of his security personnel.

Incident Details

The accident occurred around 1:30 AM on the Patna-Muzaffarpur National Highway (NH-22) when Yadav’s convoy had halted for a tea break near the Goraul toll plaza. According to eyewitnesses and police reports, a truck lost control and rammed into two vehicles of the convoy, missing Yadav by a mere five feet. The impact left three security personnel injured, who were promptly taken to Sadar Hospital in Hajipur for treatment.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Statement

Speaking to the media at the hospital, Yadav recounted the terrifying experience: “We had stopped for tea when suddenly a truck lost control and hit two to three vehicles right in front of me. Some of our security personnel were standing there… Three of them got injured.” He emphasized the proximity of the accident, stating it occurred just five feet away from him. Yadav also mentioned that the administration apprehended the truck at a nearby toll plaza and detained the driver.

Injured Personnel and Medical Response

The injured individuals, identified as security personnel from Yadav’s escort team, received immediate medical attention. Doctors at Sadar Hospital reported that all three are in stable condition. One of the injured has been referred to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for further treatment.

Police Investigation

Vaishali Superintendent of Police, Lalit Mohan Sharma, confirmed that the truck driver and his assistant have been taken into custody. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck first collided with a Bolero vehicle before hitting the convoy. As of now, there is no evidence indicating that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of political figures in Bihar. RJD leaders and supporters expressed relief over Yadav’s safety and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. They also demanded stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
