KKN Gurugram Desk | On March 8, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate International Women’s Day in Gujarat’s Navsari district. In a historic move, the security for this high-profile event will be managed exclusively by female police officers. This unique initiative marks a significant milestone in India’s law enforcement, as it will be the first time in the country’s history that an event involving the Prime Minister will have its security handled entirely by women.

Historic First: Women Police Officers in Charge of PM’s Security

The announcement was made by Harsh Sanghvi, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, on March 6, 2025. He explained that the Gujarat Police was undertaking this pioneering initiative to honor the spirit of International Women’s Day. He added that this move would not only celebrate women’s contributions but also strengthen the message of women’s empowerment across the nation.

Sanghvi emphasized that this will be the first time ever that the security for the Prime Minister’s program will be fully managed by female police personnel. The event will take place at Vanasi Borsi village in Navsari, where the Prime Minister is expected to address a large gathering. From the arrival of the Prime Minister at the helipad to the event venue itself, all security operations will be carried out by female officers.

A Step Towards Empowering Women in Law Enforcement

The security team will consist of a diverse range of female officers, from constables to senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This approach demonstrates the growing role of women in India’s law enforcement and showcases how they are actively shaping the future of security services. The team will ensure that all necessary protocols are followed, contributing to the smooth conduct of this important event.

Harsh Sanghvi mentioned that the security arrangements would include more than 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 police inspectors, 16 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), five superintendents of police (SPs), one inspector general (IG), and an additional director general of police (ADGP)-rank officer. These officers, all of whom are female, will be responsible for securing the Prime Minister’s visit and ensuring the safety of the attendees.

Senior Female Officers to Oversee the Security

The security operations will be supervised by senior female officials, including an IPS officer and Gujarat’s Home Secretary, Nipuna Torawane. These high-ranking women officers will ensure the entire security system runs efficiently. Their leadership and presence at the helm of this operation symbolize the growing empowerment of women in India’s administrative and law enforcement sectors.

This groundbreaking step is not only a major achievement for Gujarat but also sends a powerful message of women’s empowerment to the entire world. It highlights the crucial role women play in maintaining law and order while also making their presence felt in traditionally male-dominated sectors like law enforcement.

PM Modi’s Two-Day Visit to Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli is scheduled for March 7 and 8, 2025. During this visit, he will participate in a variety of events. On March 8, PM Modi will attend the Lakhpati Didi Conference in Vanasi Borsi village, where he will address women leaders and encourage them to contribute further to the nation’s development.

The Lakhpati Didi Conference is an initiative aimed at empowering women in rural areas. The event will focus on bringing together women who have excelled in their respective fields, whether in agriculture, business, or community leadership. This initiative seeks to provide a platform for women to share their success stories and encourage others to follow suit.

Women’s Day Message to the World

The initiative taken by the Gujarat Police on International Women’s Day serves as a global example of how women can take leadership roles and manage critical functions in society. By assigning the responsibility of securing such a high-profile event to female police officers, Gujarat is sending a clear message that women are at the forefront of creating a safer and more secure environment in the state.

This event also reflects the growing recognition of women’s contributions in fields traditionally dominated by men. It is a significant step toward breaking stereotypes and creating a more inclusive and gender-equal society. The gesture not only highlights women’s security role but also emphasizes the importance of female leadership in decision-making processes.

Gujarat’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Gujarat has been a progressive state when it comes to women’s empowerment. The state has implemented various policies aimed at improving the safety and well-being of women. These include initiatives to prevent violence against women, improve education, and increase their participation in the workforce.

By dedicating this Women’s Day celebration to female police officers, Gujarat is once again showcasing its commitment to fostering women’s empowerment. This historic step not only marks an important moment for the state but also sets a precedent for other regions to follow in terms of recognizing the leadership potential of women in critical roles.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Gujarat for International Women’s Day is already a significant occasion. However, the historic involvement of female police officers in securing this high-profile event adds a new layer of meaning to the celebration. This step not only honors women but also highlights their growing role in national security and law enforcement.

With female officers taking charge of the security for the Prime Minister’s event, Gujarat is reinforcing the message of gender equality and the empowerment of women in every aspect of society. The initiative is not just about women taking over a traditionally male-dominated role in law enforcement but about showcasing their capability, strength, and leadership in ensuring safety and security.

As this groundbreaking event unfolds, it will be watched closely by other states, which may soon follow Gujarat’s lead in empowering women in law enforcement. This historic move demonstrates that the future is bright for women in every field, and with more such initiatives, India can continue to make strides toward achieving full gender equality.
