In a recent meeting with senior officials, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed preparations and arrangements for the upcoming festivals, with a special focus on the Kanwar Yatra. As the Kanwar Yatra is an important religious event in the state, CM Yogi emphasized strict measures to ensure that the festival is celebrated peacefully, keeping in mind public order, cleanliness, and safety. He issued a series of directives that cover key aspects of the festival route, including the sale of meat, shop regulations, and monitoring systems.

No Meat Sale on Kanwar Yatra Routes: A New Directive

One of the significant measures announced by CM Yogi Adityanath was a ban on the sale of meat in open areas along the Kanwar Yatra routes. This directive aims to ensure a respectful and peaceful environment for devotees participating in the religious procession. Kanwar Yatra is a highly spiritual journey, with devotees traveling to various temples, particularly to the Ganga for collecting holy water, and the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining sanctity along these routes.

The decision to prohibit the sale of meat comes in light of maintaining communal harmony and ensuring that the Yatra proceeds without any disruptions. The authorities have been instructed to closely monitor the areas along the Kanwar Yatra routes to enforce this restriction.

Shops to Display Names: A Step for Transparency

In addition to the meat sale ban, CM Yogi Adityanath also mandated that all shopkeepers along the Yatra routes display the names of their shops clearly. This measure is part of efforts to ensure accountability and transparency in business operations. It also aims to create a sense of orderliness and make it easier for authorities to trace any concerns or violations during the festival.

By enforcing this rule, the state government aims to strengthen law and order in public spaces and reduce the chances of illegal activities occurring unnoticed. It will also help with monitoring, should there be any security issues that arise during the festival.

Drone Surveillance to Monitor Yatra Routes

In a bid to further enhance the security and monitoring of the Kanwar Yatra, CM Yogi Adityanath ordered the use of drones for surveillance. These drones will keep a constant watch over the route, providing real-time footage to security forces. This will help in detecting any irregularities, ensuring that the Yatra proceeds smoothly, and intervening in case of any untoward incidents.

The drone surveillance is part of a broader initiative to improve safety and public order during large-scale events like the Kanwar Yatra. Drones will be equipped with cameras to monitor crowd movements, detect potential threats, and provide timely responses to any incidents that may occur.

Focus on Cleanliness, Lighting, Drinking Water, and Toilets

Another crucial directive issued by the Chief Minister was ensuring the cleanliness of the Kanwar Yatra routes. He highlighted the need for proper sanitation, waste management, and ensuring that the routes remain clean throughout the duration of the event. Special teams will be deployed to clean the roads, and waste disposal mechanisms will be set up along the Yatra routes to prevent any littering.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of providing adequate lighting, ensuring that all areas along the routes are well-lit, especially during the evening and night hours. This will not only improve the safety of the devotees but also contribute to the overall festive atmosphere of the Yatra.

As Kanwar Yatra often sees large crowds, it is essential to have sufficient drinking water facilities and toilets available along the route. CM Yogi instructed officials to ensure that these basic amenities are easily accessible to everyone, particularly to prevent any inconvenience caused to the pilgrims, who often travel long distances.

Strict Measures Against Provocative Behavior

In addition to these arrangements, CM Yogi Adityanath also instructed officials to be vigilant against any provocative behavior or hate speech during the Yatra. Authorities were directed to take swift action against anyone engaging in communal tensions or making inflammatory statements. The emphasis on peaceful celebrations and the need for communal harmony was clear in the Chief Minister’s directives.

These measures also include ensuring that there are no display of weapons or provocative slogans during the Yatra, which has sometimes been a concern in the past. The authorities have been tasked with ensuring that the atmosphere remains one of spirituality and unity, rather than allowing any actions that could disrupt the peace.

Special Focus on Maintenance and Security

With the Kanwar Yatra being a large-scale religious event that attracts millions of people, ensuring smooth operations and security is critical. CM Yogi Adityanath has emphasized that special teams should be assigned to monitor the roads, maintain order, and prevent any untoward incidents.

Additionally, the local police, along with volunteers, will be positioned at key spots along the Yatra route. Their responsibilities will include guiding the devotees, ensuring safe movement, and preventing any form of mischief or disruption. Adequate medical facilities will also be arranged to handle emergencies, given the large crowds and the often challenging conditions faced by the pilgrims.

A Step Towards Better Governance and Public Welfare

The Kanwar Yatra, a festival that sees a large number of devotees from Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states, is a time for religious fervor and community bonding. CM Yogi’s directives reflect a strong push towards making this Yatra safe, orderly, and respectful for everyone involved. With clear instructions for the proper display of shop names, the prohibition of meat sales along the route, and the introduction of drone surveillance, the state government is taking significant steps to ensure that public order is maintained.

The focus on cleanliness, lighting, and basic amenities such as drinking water and toilets will contribute to the overall well-being of the pilgrims. Additionally, the commitment to preventing provocative behaviors and ensuring communal harmony is a crucial part of maintaining peace during such large-scale religious events.

With these comprehensive measures, Uttar Pradesh is setting an example for how large religious festivals can be organized in a manner that ensures both public safety and spiritual significance. The Chief Minister’s directives aim to make the Kanwar Yatra not only a celebration of faith but also an event that promotes peace, security, and social harmony. As preparations continue for this year’s Kanwar Yatra, it is clear that the government is leaving no stone unturned to make the festival safe, smooth, and memorable for all involved.
