Weather Update: IMD Predicts Rain in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar; Snowfall Continues in Himalayan Regions

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for several states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Additionally, hailstorm activity is expected in some areas. Meanwhile, heavy snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand has disrupted daily life. IMD has also forecasted continued snowfall in the Himalayan region today.

Heavy Rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Cold Winds in Delhi-NCR

Parts of Tamil Nadu have been witnessing heavy rainfall since last night. The IMD has also indicated the possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR. According to the department, strong winds may sweep across Delhi on Sunday, leading to further changes in weather patterns.

The activation of Western Disturbance has caused a shift in North India’s weather conditions. The impact of rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is also being felt in Uttar Pradesh, with overcast skies and a drop in temperature.

Weather Alert for Several Districts in Uttar Pradesh

According to weather scientist Kailash Pandey, scattered clouds will continue to persist for the next two days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Western Uttar Pradesh, particularly in cities like Noida, Meerut, and Ghaziabad, where thunderstorms and hailstorms have already increased cold conditions.

The scientist further mentioned that a Western Disturbance over Afghanistan and Pakistan is moving toward Tibet, influencing the weather in North India. As a result, rainfall and snowfall have started in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, impacting the plains.

Cold westerly winds are pushing cloud cover from the mountains to eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, leading to increased humidity and unstable weather.

Heavy Snowfall and Rain Predicted on March 4 and 5

The Western Disturbance is expected to intensify from March 3, bringing light snowfall and rain in several regions on Monday. IMD has also issued a warning for heavy rain and snowfall on March 4 and 5.

In the last three daysrain and snowfall have affected daily life. On Saturday, some areas experienced sunshine, while places like Mandi and Shimla witnessed light showers and hailstorms.

Due to continuous snowfall and rain, several national highways and 480 roads remain blocked. Additionally, 2,001 electricity transformers have been damaged, disrupting power supply in many regions.

Monsoon 2025: Expect Good Rainfall This Year

There is positive news for the Indian economy as meteorologists predict good rainfall during the upcoming monsoon. The impact of La Niña will not only be felt in summer but also in the rainy season. Experts suggest that this year’s monsoon will bring above-average rainfall across the country.

La Niña to Weaken Gradually Before Monsoon Arrives

Current estimates suggest that the influence of La Niña is expected to weaken gradually in the coming months. While neutral conditions might prevail before the monsoon season, experts predict El Niño is unlikely to develop before September. Even if El Niño conditions emerge, they are expected to occur after September, reducing the risk of a weak monsoon.

The current weather patterns in North India indicate unstable conditions in the coming days. With rain, hailstorms, and snowfall predicted across multiple states, people should prepare for sudden weather changes. The impact of Western Disturbances and La Niña will continue to shape India’s climate conditions, making it crucial for residents to stay updated with weather alerts.
