Western Disturbance to Impact Weather from February 8
Weather scientist Kumar Gaurav has predicted the arrival of a new western disturbance that will affect the Western Himalayan region from February 8. As a result, Bihar will continue to experience cold northwesterly winds over the next few days. These winds will bring a further drop in temperature, making the cold spell stronger.
Regions near the Himalayan foothills, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj, are likely to witness dense fog in the early morning hours. Visibility may remain low, impacting transportation and daily activities.
Despite sunny afternoons, the presence of cool winds will maintain a winter-like chill throughout the day. This pattern will continue for at least the next two days.
Dense Fog and Cold Winds to Persist in Several Districts
On the morning of February 7, several districts, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj, were covered in dense fog. The foggy conditions are expected to persist on February 8 as well.
The sun will shine during the day, but strong northwesterly winds will keep the atmosphere cool. As soon as the sun sets, temperatures will drop sharply, and the cold will intensify. Both daytime and nighttime temperatures will continue to decline, making the weather colder.
Meteorologists predict that over the next two days, strong northwesterly winds will impact most parts of the state. These winds, along with low temperatures, will make mornings particularly chilly and uncomfortable.
Impact on Daily Life
The return of cold conditions in Bihar will affect daily routines, travel, and agriculture. The presence of dense fog in northern districts could disrupt road and rail transport, leading to delays and visibility issues.
For farmers, the cold winds and temperature drop may impact winter crops. Proper precautions should be taken to protect crops from cold stress. People are advised to dress warmly, avoid early morning travel, and take precautions against cold-related illnesses.
