Nitish Government Announces Free Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan

Published on

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar has extended a special gift to women. In a bid to promote convenience and celebrate the sacred bond of siblings, the government has announced that women can travel for free on state-run buses on August 9. This move allows women to visit their parental homes without any travel costs and tie rakhi to their brothers. Women will have the opportunity to travel on Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) buses for free on this special day.

Free Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan

The free travel scheme will be applicable across all types of buses operated by BSRTC, including ordinary, deluxe, and Volvo buses. The announcement aims to provide ease for women traveling to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan. The initiative is designed to strengthen the bond between brothers and sisters by giving women the chance to visit their families without financial burden. Women can avail of this benefit on any BSRTC route across Bihar.

Objective Behind the Decision

Atul Kumar Verma, the Administrator of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, issued the order regarding this decision. According to him, the primary objective behind this initiative is to honor the sacred relationship between brothers and sisters. It also aims to make the journey for women more convenient, especially during the festive period when families come together to celebrate. By offering free travel, the state government hopes to ease the movement of women across the state, allowing them to enjoy the festival without any constraints.

This service will not only help women travel more comfortably but also offer them the freedom to visit their family and celebrate Raksha Bandhan with their loved ones in a hassle-free manner. The special provision extends to all categories of buses operated by BSRTC, ensuring that women from different regions have access to this facility.

Pink Bus Service in Patna Also Offers Free Travel

In addition to regular BSRTC buses, the government has extended the free travel offer to the Pink Bus service operating in Patna. These buses run between Saguna Mor and Gandhi Maidan, as well as from Gandhi Maidan to AIIMS. The Pink Bus service has been specifically designed to provide safe and comfortable travel for women in the capital city. This initiative adds to the accessibility of public transportation for women, ensuring their safety and ease of travel during the busy festival period.

Additional Bus Operations in Patna

Given the high volume of travelers expected in Patna during the festival, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation has decided to operate additional buses to accommodate the increased demand. This move aims to prevent overcrowding and ensure that all women can make the most of the free travel facility. The additional buses will help reduce wait times and provide a smoother travel experience for passengers.

Ensuring Safety and Comfort for Women Travelers

To ensure the safety and comfort of women passengers, the BSRTC has issued specific instructions to all bus drivers and conductors. They have been asked to exercise special care and attention during the free travel period. The corporation has also urged its staff to strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the government for this special initiative. Women traveling during Raksha Bandhan can thus expect a more comfortable and secure journey.

Making Raksha Bandhan a Safe and Memorable Experience

BSRTC has also appealed to passengers to take full advantage of the free travel offer. The corporation hopes that women will use this opportunity to celebrate Raksha Bandhan in a safe and convenient manner. By offering free travel, the government aims to make the festival even more enjoyable and memorable for women, ensuring they can reach their destinations stress-free and focus entirely on the celebration.

The free bus travel initiative by the Nitish Kumar government on Raksha Bandhan is a thoughtful and impactful move to ease the travel of women across Bihar. By allowing them to travel for free on all BSRTC buses, the government not only provides financial relief but also fosters the spirit of togetherness during this special festival. This gesture highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring women’s convenience and safety, particularly during important cultural and religious occasions like Raksha Bandhan.
