Gold and Silver Prices Surge in Varanasi Amid Wedding Season Demand

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | As the wedding season intensifies in India, Varanasi witnesses a significant uptick in gold and silver prices, reflecting heightened consumer demand and global market trends.

Gold Prices Reach New Highs in Varanasi

On June 5, 2025, gold prices in Varanasi experienced a notable increase:

  • 24-Carat Gold: ₹101,667 per 10 grams, up from ₹101,130 the previous day.

  • 22-Carat Gold: ₹93,662 per 10 grams, rising from ₹93,168.

  • 18-Carat Gold: ₹76,633 per 10 grams, an increase from ₹76,229.

These increments represent a consistent upward trend, with 24-carat gold prices increasing by approximately 0.53% daily.

Silver Prices Soar Amidst Festive Demand

Silver prices have also surged:

  • Current Price: ₹104,000 per kilogram, up by ₹2,000 from the previous day.

  • Per Gram Rate: ₹104, marking a ₹2 increase.

This marks a significant rise, with silver prices climbing over 4% since the beginning of June.

Factors Influencing the Price Surge

Several elements contribute to the escalating prices:

  1. Wedding Season Demand: The traditional wedding season boosts the demand for gold and silver jewelry.

  2. Global Market Trends: Fluctuations in international markets influence local prices.

  3. Economic Indicators: Inflation and currency valuation impact precious metal costs.

  4. Investment Demand: Investors turn to gold and silver as safe-haven assets during economic uncertainties.

Consumer Advisory

Prospective buyers should consider:

  • Purity Verification: Ensure the gold is hallmarked and verify its caratage.

  • Price Comparison: Compare rates across different vendors.

  • Market Timing: Monitor market trends for optimal purchasing times.

Historical Price Trends

In May 2025, Varanasi witnessed the following trends:

  • Gold: Prices ranged between ₹92,840 and ₹98,040 per 10 grams.

  • Silver: Prices fluctuated between ₹96,900 and ₹101,000 per kilogram.

These figures indicate a steady increase, aligning with the current upward trajectory.

The surge in gold and silver prices in Varanasi is attributed to seasonal demand and global economic factors. Consumers are advised to stay informed and exercise due diligence when making purchases during this period.
