Bihar Cold Wave Intensifies as Temperatures Set to Drop Further Over Next Three Days

Published on

The cold wave in Bihar continues to intensify, creating difficult conditions for residents across the state. According to the latest weather forecast, the next three days are expected to be even colder. The Meteorological Department has warned that minimum temperatures may fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. This sharp decline could trigger cold wave-like conditions in most districts of Bihar. The situation is expected to impact daily life, health, and outdoor activities.

Cold conditions have already tightened their grip on the state. Early mornings and late nights have become increasingly harsh. Despite occasional sunshine during the day, the chill in the air continues to persist. The weather pattern suggests no immediate relief, making the coming days particularly challenging for people.

Why Is the Cold Increasing in Bihar?

Weather experts have attributed the falling temperatures to active western disturbances in North India. Continuous snowfall in the Himalayan regions is also playing a major role. Cold northwesterly winds are flowing into Bihar, causing a steady drop in night temperatures. These winds are preventing daytime warmth from settling in.

Even when the sun appears, the cold breeze keeps the temperature low. As a result, people are unable to feel comfortable warmth during the day. The cold becomes more intense after sunset and during early morning hours. Frost-like conditions are being felt in several areas, especially in open spaces.

Districts Likely to Face Severe Cold Conditions

The impact of the cold wave is expected to be stronger in northern and central Bihar. Cities like Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Samastipur, Begusarai, and Chhapra may witness temperatures falling below normal levels.

In some districts, the minimum temperature could drop to between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius. Dense fog is also likely to form during early morning hours. Reduced visibility may affect road traffic and train services in several regions. Commuters are advised to remain cautious while traveling during foggy hours.

Cold Wave Threat Raises Health Concerns

The Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of cold wave-like conditions due to the sharp temperature decline. Such conditions can pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. Elderly people, children, and those with existing illnesses are at higher risk.

Cold winds may aggravate respiratory issues, joint pain, and skin-related problems. People working outdoors, especially daily wage laborers and farmers, may face severe discomfort. Prolonged exposure to cold weather can also increase the risk of hypothermia in extreme cases.

Daily Life Affected Across the State

The rising cold has begun to affect normal life in many parts of Bihar. Streets remain largely empty during early morning and late evening hours. People prefer staying indoors to avoid the biting cold. School-going children and office commuters are facing daily challenges.

Markets are witnessing low footfall during morning hours. Business activities start late due to the cold conditions. Public spaces remain quiet until the sun gains strength later in the day. In several areas, people have started using bonfires to keep warm.

For homeless and economically weaker sections, the cold has emerged as a serious concern. Nights have become extremely uncomfortable, increasing the need for shelter and warmth.

Administration and Health Department on Alert

Keeping the cold situation in mind, district administrations across Bihar have stepped up preparedness. Arrangements for bonfires are being made in many urban areas. Night shelters are being readied to accommodate homeless individuals.

The Health Department has issued advisories urging people to take precautions. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during extreme cold hours. Wearing adequate warm clothing and ensuring proper care for children and elderly family members has been emphasized.

Hospitals and healthcare centers have been placed on alert. Medical staff have been instructed to remain prepared for patients suffering from cold-related illnesses. Emergency services are also being monitored closely during this period.

Fog Likely to Add to Weather Challenges

Apart from falling temperatures, fog is expected to remain a concern in the coming days. Dense fog during early mornings may reduce visibility significantly. This could affect road safety and slow down transportation services.

Railway and highway authorities are likely to remain cautious due to the fog conditions. Drivers are advised to use fog lights and maintain safe speeds. Pedestrians should also remain alert while moving during low visibility hours.

Weather Outlook for the Coming Days

According to weather officials, the cold wave conditions are likely to persist for the next three days. During this period, night temperatures are expected to remain low across most parts of the state. After this phase, a gradual rise in minimum temperatures may begin.

However, even after a slight increase, mornings are expected to remain cold and foggy. Cold winds may continue to blow, especially in open and rural areas. Any significant relief from winter conditions is unlikely in the immediate future.

Precaution Is the Best Protection

Weather experts stress that caution is essential during this period of intense cold. People are advised to wear multiple layers of warm clothing. Consuming warm food and beverages can help maintain body temperature.

Avoiding outdoor activities during early morning and late evening hours is recommended. Special care should be taken for children, elderly individuals, and those suffering from chronic illnesses. Adequate heating arrangements at night can help reduce health risks.

Cold Wave Set to Continue in Bihar

Overall, Bihar is expected to remain under the grip of severe winter conditions for the next few days. The cold wave shows no signs of easing immediately. With temperatures set to fall further, residents are advised to remain alert and prepared.

The coming three days are likely to test people’s endurance against the cold. Staying informed, cautious, and prepared remains the best way to deal with the harsh winter spell sweeping across the state.
