Vaishali District Assembly Election Results 2025 : NDA Dominates, Tejashwi Wins While Tej Pratap Faces Defeat

Published on

In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the political landscape of Vaishali district saw the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) dominate with a significant victory. The district has a total of eight legislative assembly seats, and out of these, NDA secured seven, leaving only one seat for the Mahagathbandhan. Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan, successfully won his seat in Raghopur, but his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, suffered a loss in Mahua, finishing third in the race.

NDA’s Strong Performance in Vaishali

In Vaishali, the NDA’s victory was largely attributed to the strength and unity of its alliance. The constituency saw a clean sweep by the NDA, with major victories in several key areas. In the 2020 elections, NDA had won four seats, while the Mahagathbandhan claimed four. This time, however, the situation was different. The NDA, consisting of the BJP, JDU, and LJP, was able to consolidate their positions and claim a majority in the district.

Detailed Results from Vaishali District

The Vaishali district witnessed intense competition in the assembly elections. Starting with the Vaishali assembly seat, where JD(U)’s Siddharth Patel won by a margin of 32,590 votes. Siddharth Patel, with a total of 108,377 votes, defeated RJD’s Ajay Kushwaha, who received 75,787 votes. This was Patel’s sixth consecutive win in the region, reflecting his strong political base.

In the Hajipur seat, BJP’s Awadhesh Singh emerged victorious with 113,221 votes, defeating his closest rival, Dev Kumar Chaurasia of the RJD, by a margin of 18,509 votes. Chaurasia garnered 94,712 votes in this highly contested seat.

In Mahua, LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh made a remarkable win with 87,641 votes. He defeated the incumbent RJD MLA Dr. Mukesh Roshan by 44,997 votes. Dr. Roshan received 42,644 votes, while Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s eldest son, came third with 35,703 votes. AIMIM’s candidate, Amit Kumar, also trailed with 15,783 votes.

Rajapakhar witnessed JD(U)’s Mahendra Ram defeat Congress’s Pratima Das by a significant margin of 48,189 votes. Mahendra Ram garnered 96,258 votes, while Pratima Das secured only 48,069 votes.

In Raghopur, the seat associated with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, Tejashwi Yadav retained his seat, defeating BJP’s Satish Kumar Yadav by 14,532 votes. Tejashwi received 118,597 votes, while Satish Kumar secured 104,065 votes. This victory was crucial for Tejashwi as he managed to hold on to his stronghold.

Patepur saw BJP’s Lakhendra Kumar Raushan emerge victorious with 108,356 votes, defeating RJD’s Prema Chaudhary by a margin of 22,380 votes. Prema Chaudhary, who received 85,976 votes, could not overcome the challenge posed by BJP’s candidate.

In Lalganj, BJP’s Sanjay Kumar Singh defeated RJD’s Shivani Shukla by 32,167 votes. Sanjay Kumar secured 127,650 votes, while Shivani Shukla received 95,483 votes, resulting in a 54% vote share for the BJP candidate.

Mahanar witnessed JD(U)’s Umesh Kumar Kushwaha winning against RJD’s Ravindra Singh by 38,558 votes. Umesh Kumar secured 98,050 votes, while Ravindra Singh got 59,492 votes, adding another seat to the JD(U) tally in the district.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Success in Raghopur

Tejashwi Yadav, who was considered a key face in the Mahagathbandhan, successfully defended his seat in Raghopur. Despite the strong challenge from the BJP, he emerged victorious with a solid margin. His win was a crucial victory for the RJD, as it allowed him to maintain his position as the leader of the party in the state.

However, the district witnessed a setback for the Mahagathbandhan, especially with Tej Pratap Yadav’s defeat in Mahua. His poor performance was a significant blow to the Mahagathbandhan’s hopes of strengthening its presence in the region.

The Close Contest in Mahua

In Mahua, the battle was fierce. LJP’s Sanjay Kumar Singh garnered an impressive 87,641 votes to secure the victory, while Tej Pratap Yadav, who was a prominent candidate for the Mahagathbandhan, failed to make much of an impact. His third-place finish was surprising, given his popularity and the high expectations from his side. This loss was a crucial factor contributing to the Mahagathbandhan’s poor performance in the district.

Shifting Dynamics in Vaishali: A Reflection of Bihar’s Political Landscape

The election results in Vaishali serve as a reminder of the changing political dynamics in Bihar. With NDA taking control of most of the seats, the alliance has strengthened its hold on the state. The significant win in Vaishali reflects the growing support for the NDA, especially under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Mahagathbandhan’s poor performance in the district is indicative of the challenges opposition parties face in Bihar. Despite the presence of prominent leaders like Tejashwi and Tej Pratap, the Mahagathbandhan could not translate its popularity into electoral victories. This has raised questions about the future of the opposition in the state and the need for a revamp in strategies to counter the growing dominance of the NDA.

Future Outlook: What Lies Ahead for Vaishali and Bihar’s Politics

As the NDA consolidates its position in Bihar, the future of Mahagathbandhan remains uncertain. The results in Vaishali have shown that the opposition, despite its efforts, has struggled to make significant inroads in the state. The victory for NDA in this district will likely fuel its ambitions for further growth in the state.

For Tejashwi Yadav, despite his victory in Raghopur, the results in other areas of Vaishali indicate that his party needs to focus on its strategies for the future. Tej Pratap Yadav’s defeat in Mahua is a stark reminder of the opposition’s internal challenges.

The results in Vaishali district, where the NDA dominated, will have a lasting impact on Bihar’s political future. While Tejashwi Yadav managed to hold on to his seat, the defeat of Tej Pratap Yadav and the overall performance of the Mahagathbandhan raise serious questions about the party’s strategy in the state. For the NDA, the victory signifies a strong foothold in Bihar’s politics, with the alliance continuing to lead the state’s governance. The Mahagathbandhan, on the other hand, needs to regroup and reassess its position to effectively challenge the NDA’s growing influence in the coming years.
