Delhi Blast Near Red Fort: 9 Dead and Dozens Injured in Devastating Explosion

Published on

On Monday evening, a massive explosion occurred in a car near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, leading to the death of nine people and leaving nearly two dozen others injured. The explosion has raised serious concerns, and in the aftermath, the area around the Red Fort has been sealed off for security reasons. Authorities have also heightened security in the surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.

Red Fort and Metro Station Closed for Investigation

As part of the security measures, the Red Fort has been closed for three days, from November 11 to November 13. Additionally, the Red Fort Metro Station has been temporarily shut down, with restrictions placed on both the entry and exit of passengers. In response to the ongoing investigation, Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory, urging commuters to avoid the Netaji Subhash Marg, which runs in front of the Red Fort. The advisory also suggested taking alternative routes to avoid congestion and delays.

Traffic Advisory and Restrictions

Delhi Traffic Police posted an advisory on the social media platform ‘X,’ informing the public about the traffic restrictions in place due to the blast. The advisory stated that due to the emergency situation, traffic would be restricted on both carriageways and service roads of Netaji Subhash Marg, from Chhata Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut. The restrictions will remain in effect from 6:00 AM on November 11, 2025, until further notice. The police have strongly advised travelers to avoid these routes for the time being and use alternative roads to ensure smoother travel.

Explosion Details and Aftermath

The explosion, which occurred in a white Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort Metro Station, was so intense that several nearby vehicles caught fire, and some were completely destroyed. The explosion caused severe damage to the windows of nearby shops and the metro station. Witnesses reported hearing the blast from a significant distance. Authorities are currently in the process of identifying the victims who lost their lives in the incident.

Police Response and Investigation Underway

Delhi Police, along with forensic teams, National Investigation Agency (NIA) experts, and National Security Guard (NSG) personnel, have cordoned off the area and are investigating the exact cause of the blast. Investigators are considering the possibility of a terrorist angle and have not ruled out the involvement of any external entities. The police are conducting raids at several locations in Delhi as part of their investigation. Additionally, the Delhi Police have registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act, and relevant sections of the BNS Act.

Home Minister Amit Shah Visits the Site

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been closely monitoring the situation and the ongoing investigation. He visited the blast site and hospitals on the night of the explosion to express his condolences to the families of the victims and to inquire about the condition of the injured. His visit highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and addressing the root cause of the attack.

High Alert in Delhi and Nationwide Security Measures

In the wake of the explosion, Delhi Police have put the capital on high alert. A heavy security presence has been deployed at critical locations, including airports, railway stations, and bus terminals. This step is being taken to ensure public safety and to prevent any further incidents. Authorities are working tirelessly to uncover the motives behind the blast and to bring those responsible to justice.

Police Action and Legal Steps Taken

The Delhi Police have filed an FIR under sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA, which pertain to terrorist activities and conspiracy, along with charges under the Explosive Substances Act. The police are investigating all possible leads and are taking necessary action to ensure that the perpetrators of the blast are apprehended. Further investigations are underway, and authorities are exploring all angles of the incident, including any possible links to terrorism.

The explosion near Red Fort in Delhi has shaken the city and raised concerns about public safety. As investigations unfold, authorities are working diligently to piece together the details of the incident. With heightened security in place and the ongoing inquiry, the police are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that the truth behind the explosion is uncovered. Meanwhile, residents and commuters are urged to stay cautious and follow official advisories to ensure their safety in the coming days.
