PM Modi Unveils 48,500 Crore Development Projects in Bihar During Bikramganj Visit

KKN Gurugram Desk |  In a significant move to bolster Bihar’s infrastructure and economic landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹48,500 crore during his visit to Bikramganj in Rohtas district. The event, attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, marks a pivotal moment in the state’s journey towards modernization and growth.

Key Highlights of the Visit

1. Inauguration of Major Infrastructure Projects

  • Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Four-Lane Road: Enhancing connectivity between Patna and Gaya, this project aims to reduce travel time and boost regional trade.

  • Gopalganj Elevated Corridor: A four-lane elevated road constructed at a cost of ₹249 crore to alleviate traffic congestion in Gopalganj.

  • Automatic Block Signaling System: Implemented between Sasaram and Anugrah Narayan Road to improve railway safety and efficiency.

  • Third Railway Line between Son Nagar and Muhammadganj: A strategic addition to the railway network to handle increased freight and passenger traffic.

  • Construction of Hostels and Staff Quarters in Jehanabad: Aimed at improving educational infrastructure and staff accommodation.

2. Foundation Stones Laid for Upcoming Projects

  • Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Phase II): Three ultra-supercritical units of 800 MW each, totaling 2,400 MW, with an investment of ₹29,947 crore. This project is set to make Bihar a power surplus state.

  • New Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli: A three-lane bridge costing ₹531 crore to enhance connectivity between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

  • Four-Lane Road on NH-119D (Ramnagar to Kacchi Dargah): A project worth ₹1,083 crore to improve road infrastructure in the region.

  • Five-Terminal Railway Platform at Harding Park, Patna: Designed to handle increased passenger traffic and improve railway services.

  • Expansion of NH-119A (Patna-Ara-Sasaram): Upgrading the existing road to a four-lane highway to facilitate smoother transportation.

  • Development of NH-319B (Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata): A six-lane expressway to enhance inter-state connectivity and economic integration.

Security and Crowd Management

Given the scale of the event, elaborate security arrangements were in place:

  • Deployment of Security Personnel: Over 5,000 police officers, including 10 Superintendents of Police (SPs) and 50 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), ensured the safety of attendees.

  • Checkpoints and Monitoring: Approximately 250 checkpoints were established, each manned by magistrates and police officers.

  • Emergency Services: Ten fire tenders and multiple ambulances were stationed at the venue for immediate response to any emergencies.

Significance of the Visit

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s 50th trip to Bihar, underscoring the central government’s commitment to the state’s development. The projects inaugurated and initiated are expected to:

  • Boost Economic Growth: Enhanced infrastructure will attract investments and create job opportunities.

  • Improve Connectivity: Better roads and railways will facilitate smoother movement of goods and people.

  • Strengthen Energy Security: The new power projects aim to meet the increasing energy demands of the state.
