KKN Gurugram Desk |  On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Sindoor sapling at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The sapling was a gift from women in Kutch, Gujarat, who had demonstrated remarkable courage during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

A Symbol of Courage and Commitment

During a recent visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi met with these brave women, who had contributed significantly during the 1971 war by assisting in the reconstruction of the Bhuj airfield. Touched by their gesture of presenting him with the Sindoor sapling, the Prime Minister promised to plant it at his residence.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi stated, “This plant will remain a strong symbol of the valor and inspiration of the women power of our country.”

Operation Sindoor: A Recent Military Response

The planting of the Sindoor sapling also resonates with India’s recent military operation named “Operation Sindoor,” launched in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, showcasing India’s resolve against terrorism.

Sindoor Van: A Memorial Park in Kutch

In honor of Operation Sindoor and the bravery of the women from Kutch, a memorial park named “Sindoor Van” is being established near Bhuj in Gujarat’s Kutch district. The park will span eight hectares and feature approximately 80,000 plants, including sections dedicated to the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Border Security Force. It aims to serve both as a tribute to national valor and a step towards environmental conservation.

World Environment Day 2025: Focus on Plastic Pollution

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, aims to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the environment. The theme for 2025 focuses on ending plastic pollution, urging individuals and nations to adopt sustainable practices.

Prime Minister Modi’s act of planting the Sindoor sapling intertwines the themes of honoring women’s courage and emphasizing environmental responsibility. It serves as a reminder of the nation’s rich history and the ongoing commitment to a sustainable future
