KKN Gurugram Desk | The city of Gorakhpur is set to receive two transformative infrastructure projects today, enhancing both its rail and road connectivity. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express from Siwan in Bihar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will dedicate the much-anticipated Gorakhpur Link Expressway to the public, connecting the city directly to the Purvanchal Expressway.

These twin developments mark a significant stride in Eastern Uttar Pradesh’s and North Bihar’s transportation infrastructure, promising improved mobility, faster travel, and regional economic growth.

Gorakhpur Link Expressway Inauguration by CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the Gorakhpur Link Expressway today at Salarpur in Azamgarh district. The project will connect Gorakhpur to the Purvanchal Expressway, thereby integrating the region into UP’s rapidly expanding expressway network.

Following the inauguration, CM Yogi will travel 86 kilometers on the new expressway and conduct a detailed inspection of the Kamaria Ghat Saryu Bridge in Bardahaganj. He will also address a public gathering at Bhagwanpur Toll Plaza, situated along the route.

This four-lane access-controlled expressway, developed to facilitate smoother traffic movement from Gorakhpur to Lucknow and beyond, is expected to reduce travel time drastically and boost local trade, tourism, and logistics operations.

Key Benefits of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway:

  • Direct connectivity to Purvanchal Expressway

  • Improved access to state capital Lucknow

  • Infrastructure development across rural Eastern UP

  • Faster evacuation routes in case of emergencies

  • Economic upliftment through industrial investment in the region

Vande Bharat Express to Connect Gorakhpur and Patliputra

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express from Siwan, Bihar. This marks the introduction of India’s semi-high-speed train in a crucial corridor that connects Eastern Uttar Pradesh and North Bihar, two of India’s most densely populated regions.

Train Route & Schedule (Gorakhpur to Patliputra):

  • Departure from Gorakhpur: 5:40 AM

  • CaptainGanj: 6:24 AM

  • Bagaha: 7:30 AM

  • Narkatiaganj: 8:03 AM

  • Bettiah: 8:35 AM

  • Sagauli: 8:50 AM

  • Motihari: 9:08 AM

  • Muzaffarpur: 10:50 AM

  • Hajipur: 11:40 AM

  • Arrival at Patliputra: 12:45 PM

Return Schedule (Patliputra to Gorakhpur):

  • Departure: 3:30 PM

  • Arrival at Gorakhpur: 10:30 PM

Operating Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Railway Board and Administrative Preparations

Ahead of the launch, Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar visited Gorakhpur to supervise the operational readiness of the Vande Bharat Express. He also boarded an inspection vehicle to conduct a window trailing from Gorakhpur to Siwan, ensuring all technical and safety parameters are in place.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh visited the expressway inauguration site to oversee the final preparations, security arrangements, and protocol coordination for the CM’s visit.

PM Modi’s aircraft is scheduled to land at Kushinagar International Airport this morning. From there, he will travel to Siwan by helicopter to officially launch the high-speed train service.

Strategic Importance of These Projects

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway and Vande Bharat Express are not standalone infrastructure upgrades—they are part of a larger strategic vision to enhance inter-state connectivity, reduce travel time, and support socio-economic development across Eastern India.

Both projects aim to:

  • Strengthen transport integration between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

  • Enable faster and more comfortable travel for commuters and pilgrims

  • Promote industrial corridors and logistics hubs in North India

  • Generate employment through tourism, construction, and service sectors

Public Response and Local Impact

Residents and business owners across Gorakhpur, Siwan, Muzaffarpur, and Patna have welcomed these developments enthusiastically. Locals believe that better road and rail connectivity will boost commerce, educational access, and health services for remote towns and villages.

A trader from Gorakhpur commented:

“With the expressway connecting us directly to Lucknow, transporting goods will be quicker and more cost-effective. And the Vande Bharat train will make travel to Bihar’s capital much easier.”

Similarly, daily commuters, students, and patients visiting hospitals in Patna and Gorakhpur are expected to benefit immensely from reduced journey times and enhanced train comfort.

Vande Bharat: Redefining Train Travel in Eastern India

The Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat is part of Indian Railways’ broader plan to introduce high-speed, tech-enabled trains in every major corridor. Key features of the Vande Bharat include:

  • Top speed of up to 160 km/h

  • Fully air-conditioned coaches

  • Automatic doors, GPS-based passenger info systems

  • Onboard catering and bio-vacuum toilets

  • Zero discharge eco-friendly design

  • Better acceleration and safety systems (Kavach-enabled)

This launch adds another feather to the cap of Eastern India’s transport evolution, connecting rural regions with urban centers efficiently.

With the twin launch of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway and the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Northern Bihar are entering a new phase of connectivity and development. The presence of both PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath on the same day highlights the importance of these projects in national and regional planning.

From faster commutes and smoother logistics to economic expansion and tourism promotion, these projects are expected to deliver long-term benefits to millions of residents.
