Saif Ali Khan Stabbed in a Failed Robbery Attempt: Actor Opens Up About Harrowing Experience

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked by an intruder during a failed robbery attempt at his home last month. The actor was stabbed six times in the back, with the knife dangerously close to his spine. Saif underwent two major surgeries, one of which involved the removal of a three-inch knife blade that had become lodged near his spinal cord.

While the incident drew much attention, some skeptics raised doubts about its authenticity. In a candid interview with The Times of India, Saif shared chilling details about his battle with the armed attacker and how he fought alone until his house help intervened. The actor admitted that had the intruder inflicted a more severe injury to his neck or spine, he could have been left paralyzed.

A Heroic Son: Taimur’s Calm Response

In a heart-wrenching revelation, Saif shared why his elder son Taimur accompanied him to the hospital, instead of his wife Kareena Kapoor. “He (Taimur) was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time,” Saif explained. He further shared, “My wife sent him knowing what he would do for me. Maybe it wasn’t… at the moment, it was the right thing to do. I felt good about it. And I also thought, if God forbid, something happens, I’d like for him to be there.” Meanwhile, Kareena took their younger son Jeh to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s house.

The Attack: A Life-Threatening Encounter

The horrifying incident took place in the early hours of the morning when Saif and Kareena were asleep. Around 2 a.m., one of their housemates rushed into their room, alarmed by an intruder demanding money in Jeh’s room. As Saif rushed to confront the situation, he was shocked to find a masked man standing over Jeh’s bed, armed with what appeared to be two sticks, but were actually sharp hexa blades.

“Something took over me,” Saif recalled, describing how he instinctively grabbed the intruder and pulled him down. However, the attacker, being armed, retaliated and stabbed Saif multiple times in the back and neck. “I couldn’t handle it after a while as there were two knives in action. I was praying that someone could get this guy off me at this point,” Saif shared. His house help, Geeta, rushed in and managed to pull the attacker away, preventing further harm.

The Escape and Severity of Injuries

After the attacker was detained in Jeh’s room, he managed to escape through the drainpipe in the children’s bathroom, the same way he had entered. Saif, still unaware of the full extent of his injuries, was rushed to the hospital, where doctors informed him that a four-inch blade had penetrated his shoulder blade and was dangerously close to his spinal cord. The actor described it as a “massive stab” and revealed that the blade had even nicknamed the protective covering of his spinal cord, causing spinal fluid leakage and temporary numbness in his leg.

Saif continued, “That’s how close it came—just one more millimetre, and we’d be talking paralysis.”

Six-Hour Surgery

Saif underwent an extensive six-hour surgery to address the injuries. Despite the traumatic experience, the actor expressed gratitude that his life had been spared and that he was recovering.
