KKN Gurugram Desk | Veteran Bollywood actress Kajol, known for her powerhouse performances and candid persona, is once again in the spotlight—this time not just for her work, but for her words of wisdom as a mother. As she promotes her upcoming horror drama “Maa,” releasing on June 27, 2025, Kajol took a moment during a recent interview to discuss her daughter Nysa Devgan and the harsh realities of online trolling faced by star kids in the age of social media.

The conversation, though rooted in celebrity culture, shines a light on a larger issue impacting public figures and their families—digital toxicity. With her signature mix of honesty and strength, Kajol shared the important advice she gives her daughter when dealing with internet hate.

Kajol Returns to the Big Screen with ‘Maa’

Before delving into her parenting perspective, it’s worth noting that Kajol is making headlines for her return to the big screen with the much-anticipated horror thriller “Maa”, set to hit theatres on June 27, 2025. The film marks her first venture into the horror genre, generating considerable buzz among fans and film enthusiasts.

Directed by a new-age filmmaker and backed by a strong production house, Maa is expected to showcase Kajol in a never-seen-before avatar, combining emotional depth with supernatural elements. The trailer has already teased a chilling yet emotionally driven plotline, making it one of the most awaited Bollywood releases of June 2025.

As promotional activities gain momentum, Kajol’s media appearances have offered glimpses into both her professional comeback and personal reflections.

Kajol Speaks on Online Trolling Faced by Nysa Devgan

In a heartfelt conversation with Hindustan Times, Kajol opened up about her daughter Nysa Devgan’s experience as a star kid navigating public life. Nysa, who is frequently spotted at events and is growing her presence on social media, has often been targeted by online trolls—a fate many celebrity children unfortunately share.

When asked how she helps her daughter deal with the negativity, Kajol offered both a protective and practical response.

“I always tell her, don’t pay attention to the noise,” Kajol said. “You must focus on the love. If you receive a thousand comments, 999 of them will say how beautiful, talented, or amazing you are. That’s what deserves your attention—not the one bitter voice in the crowd.”

“They Might Not Even Be Real People” – Kajol on Social Media Hate

Kajol was forthright in questioning the credibility of online trolls, hinting at the anonymous and often fabricated nature of internet hate.

“Honestly, I don’t even know if those people are real,” she said. “It could be 0.1% of people hiding behind fake names, throwing hate for the sake of it. My advice to Nysa is simple: ignore the toxicity. Focus on your truth and your supporters.”

Kajol even jokingly added that she tells people, “Just don’t come in front of my car, or I’ll run you over”—a humorous yet pointed way of showing how fiercely she protects her children from public negativity.

The Star Kid Dilemma: Glamour Meets Scrutiny

In today’s hyper-connected world, star kids like Nysa Devgan are under a digital microscope. From airport looks to social outings, every move becomes fodder for both adoration and harsh criticism. Unlike earlier eras, today’s celebrity children are forced to grow up in the glare of social media, which often judges more than it celebrates.

While some netizens express admiration and support, others post body-shaming comments, fashion critiques, or even make personal attacks, forgetting the basic humanity of the individual behind the screen.

Kajol, known for being a fiercely private yet grounded personality, is one of the few industry veterans speaking up about this emerging social problem.

“It’s About Creating Balance,” Kajol Adds

Throughout the interview, Kajol emphasized the importance of mental and emotional balance, both as a parent and as a public figure.

“Social media is not going away. What we need to teach our children is how to use it wisely and how to keep their sanity amidst all the noise,” she said.

She added that she always encourages her daughter to “appreciate the blessings, the compliments, and the encouragement,” rather than allowing trolls to impact her self-worth.

Parenting in the Public Eye: A New Age Challenge

Kajol’s reflections aren’t just about Nysa. They reflect the larger challenge of parenting in the digital age, especially when your family lives in the limelight. Raising confident, emotionally strong individuals while managing constant public scrutiny is no easy task.

Kajol acknowledged the emotional toll that online criticism can have on young people and reiterated the need for family support, open communication, and positive reinforcement.

Nysa Devgan: A Star in the Making?

Although Nysa hasn’t officially stepped into Bollywood, she continues to be in the public eye and is often seen attending high-profile events, sometimes alongside her father Ajay Devgn or mother Kajol.

Rumors frequently surface regarding her Bollywood debut, but the family has made no official confirmation. What’s clear, however, is that the spotlight will continue to follow Nysa, and having strong emotional backing from her family is crucial in facing both the admiration and the criticism that comes with fame.

Kajol’s advice to her daughter Nysa Devgan is not just celebrity parenting talk—it’s a universal lesson for everyone living in the age of digital validation and anonymous judgment. Her words remind us that kindness, self-awareness, and focusing on the positive are more important now than ever.

As Maa gears up for its theatrical release, Kajol continues to balance her role as a celebrated actress and a thoughtful, protective mother—proving that real-life roles often outshine those on-screen.
