The Uttar Pradesh (UP) NEET UG counseling authority has released the revised merit list for medical and dental college admissions. This list follows the recent direction of the Delhi High Court, which led to the revision of scores for a candidate. This revision resulted in a change in the candidate’s rank, causing a shift in the overall merit list for many others.

Revised Marks and Ranking
A significant change occurred when the marks for a candidate, who was earlier given 529, were increased to 540. As a result, this candidate’s state NEET UG rank improved dramatically from 2507 to 1598. The initial merit list had shown the candidate named Satyansh with 529 marks and a state rank of 2507. After the revision, the new marks were recorded as 540, and the state rank was adjusted to 1598.
This change occurred because the candidate had experienced a time loss during the examination, which warranted the addition of 11 extra grace marks. As a result, the candidate’s All India Rank also improved, rising from 24986 to 17595.5. This revision impacted other candidates as well, with many experiencing a drop in their ranks.
Delay in NEET UG Results Due to Revision
The release of the first round results for UP NEET UG, initially scheduled for August 6, 2025, has been delayed due to these changes in the merit list. The revision in rankings has made it necessary for the authorities to reevaluate the positions of all candidates, leading to this delay.

NEET UG Counseling Process
The counseling process for NEET UG in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in four rounds: First, Second, Third, and the Stray Vacancy Round. Candidates interested in participating in both government and private medical or dental seats will be required to pay a security deposit of Rs. 2 lakh. This amount is separate from the tuition fees and will not be adjusted against the fees. Failure to submit the security deposit will disqualify candidates from filling out their preferences during the choice filling process.
The NEET UG counseling provides an opportunity for candidates to secure seats in their desired medical and dental courses. It is crucial for candidates to stay updated on the latest information regarding the merit list and counseling process to ensure a smooth admission experience.
The UP NEET UG revised merit list brings significant changes in the rankings and scores of several candidates. A candidate’s rank can dramatically improve with revised marks, affecting the overall merit list. These revisions, while benefiting some, also led to a reshuffling of ranks for others. As the counseling process progresses, candidates must remain diligent about updates and ensure they fulfill the necessary requirements for securing their admissions.
