BPSC 71st Prelims Exam 2025: Important Updates, Centre Change, and Guidelines

Published on

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is all set to conduct the 71st Prelims Examination on 13 September 2025. The exam will take place in a single shift from 12 noon to 2 pm across 912 exam centres in 37 districts of Bihar. Just before the examination, BPSC has issued an important notice regarding a minor change in the address of one exam centre in Samastipur district. Candidates appearing in the exam must carefully read the revised notification and follow all the instructions strictly.

BPSC Exam Centre Change in Samastipur

The official notice clarified that candidates whose roll numbers fall between 229373 and 229612 will be affected by the change. Earlier, their designated centre was mentioned as Higher Secondary School, Pagara, Dalsinghsarai, Samastipur with code SAM6239. The commission has now updated the address to Upgraded Middle School, Pagara, Dalsinghsarai, Samastipur under the same code SAM6239.

BPSC has instructed all candidates linked to this centre to appear at the revised address on the scheduled date and time. The commission has emphasized that no further changes will be entertained and candidates must check their admit cards carefully before leaving for the exam.

Recruitment Details under BPSC 71st Prelims

The 71st BPSC Prelims exam is being conducted to fill a total of 1298 posts. Among these vacancies, there are 100 positions for Senior Deputy Collector, 14 posts for Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), 79 posts for Financial Administrative Officer (FAO), and 502 posts for Block Cooperative Officer. The rest of the vacancies are distributed across other administrative positions.

This recruitment drive is one of the most important opportunities for aspirants preparing for competitive examinations in Bihar. A large number of candidates have applied for these prestigious posts, making the competition tough and challenging.

BPSC 71st Prelims Exam Timings and Entry Rules

The examination will begin at 12 noon and conclude at 2 pm. BPSC has clearly mentioned that the gates of the exam centres will close one hour before the exam, that is, at 11 am sharp. Candidates arriving after 11 am will not be allowed entry under any circumstances.

The exam controller also highlighted that some candidates usually request entry at 11:02 am or later, but this time strict measures will be followed. To avoid inconvenience, candidates have been advised to reach the centre at least two and a half hours before the exam.

Mandatory Items for Candidates

Candidates must carry the following items to the exam hall. Each candidate is required to bring a printed copy of the e-admit card. In addition, an extra copy of the e-admit card must also be carried, as one signed copy will have to be handed over to the invigilator during the exam. Along with the admit card, the photo ID mentioned in the admit card must also be carried for verification purposes.

Candidates must ensure that the roll number and barcode are clearly visible on the admit card. Any issues related to the clarity of print should be corrected before the exam day to avoid last-minute problems.

Ban on Electronic Devices and Other Items

BPSC has imposed strict restrictions on carrying electronic gadgets inside the exam hall. Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi gadgets, electronic pens, pagers, smartwatches, and similar items are strictly banned. Candidates found with any such gadgets inside the exam hall will be charged with misconduct, and disciplinary action may follow.

In addition, stationery items such as markers, white fluid, blades, and erasers are also prohibited inside the examination room. Any attempt to use such materials will be treated as malpractice. Candidates are advised to carry only permitted stationery such as black or blue ballpoint pens.

Negative Marking in BPSC 71st Prelims

The Prelims examination includes negative marking. For every incorrect answer, one-third of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. Candidates must therefore attempt only those questions where they are reasonably confident. Random guessing can harm overall performance.

If a candidate uses markers, white fluid, or erasers to change an already marked answer, it will be considered as multiple responses. In such cases, the answer will be treated as wrong, and one-third of the marks will be deducted as penalty.

Important Instructions for Candidates

The commission has urged candidates to carefully go through all instructions mentioned on the admit card. Since the exam is being held across a large number of centres, any negligence in following the guidelines could lead to disqualification. Candidates must keep a close watch on official updates until the day of the exam to avoid confusion.

BPSC has also reminded candidates to maintain discipline and avoid misconduct inside exam centres. Any candidate found indulging in unfair means will face strict action, including cancellation of candidature.

Exam Day Precautions and Advisory

Since a large number of candidates will appear in the 71st Prelims, arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the examination. Candidates are advised to carry water bottles if permitted, reach the centres early to avoid last-minute rush, and follow all instructions of the invigilators. Strict adherence to the time schedule is a must.

Parents and guardians accompanying candidates should avoid crowding near the examination centres, as this may create unnecessary inconvenience. Authorities will ensure strict security and checking to prevent malpractice.

The BPSC 71st Prelims Exam 2025 is a crucial opportunity for thousands of aspirants across Bihar. With 1298 posts on offer, including key administrative positions such as Senior Deputy Collector, DSP, FAO, and Block Cooperative Officer, this examination is one of the most competitive events in the state.

Candidates must remain updated with official notifications, especially regarding exam centre changes like the one in Samastipur. Following all rules related to timing, entry, and items allowed inside the exam hall is essential. Negative marking and strict restrictions on electronic items highlight the importance of discipline during the exam.

With proper preparation, careful planning, and adherence to guidelines, candidates can make the most of this opportunity. The BPSC Prelims is not only a test of knowledge but also a measure of patience, discipline, and presence of mind. Aspirants are advised to remain calm, avoid last-minute panic, and give their best in the examination.
