Bihar STET 2025 Notification Released: Application, Eligibility, Exam Pattern and Key Details

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), Patna has released the official notification for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025. The announcement has generated immense interest among aspiring teachers across the state. According to the notification, the application process for Bihar STET 2025 will begin on September 11, 2025, and candidates will be able to apply online at secondary.biharboardonline.com or biharboardonline.com.

The last date to submit the online application form is September 19, 2025. The examination will be held between October 4 and October 25, 2025, while the result will be announced on November 1, 2025. Candidates who qualify Bihar STET 2025 will become eligible to participate in BPSC TRE-4, the fourth phase of teacher recruitment in Bihar.

Structure of Bihar STET 2025

The STET examination will be conducted in two categories. Paper 1 will be held for subjects related to secondary classes, while Paper 2 will be organized for higher secondary subjects. Candidates passing either of the papers will receive a lifetime valid STET certificate.

Subjects for Paper 1 (Secondary Level)

The secondary-level examination will cover subjects such as Hindi, Urdu, Bangla, Maithili, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, English, Bhojpuri, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, and Dance.

Subjects for Paper 2 (Higher Secondary Level)

The higher secondary-level examination will include subjects like Hindi, Urdu, English, Sanskrit, Bangla, Maithili, Magahi, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, Pali, Prakrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, History, Geography, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Home Science, Computer Science, Agriculture, and Music.

Age Limit for Bihar STET 2025

The maximum age limit for candidates is 37 years. Women, Backward Class (BC), and Most Backward Class (MBC) candidates will receive a relaxation of three years, while Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) will be granted a relaxation of five years.

Educational Qualification for Paper 1 (Secondary)

For secondary subjects, candidates must hold a graduate or postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject, along with a B.Ed. qualification. Alternatively, candidates who have completed a four-year integrated BA B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed. program are also eligible.

For Mathematics, candidates must have studied Mathematics along with Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Chemistry, or Statistics. Graduates in Engineering specializing in Mathematics are also eligible.

For Science, candidates must have studied subjects like Zoology, Botany, or Chemistry, or hold an Engineering degree with science specialization. Biotechnology and Microbiology are also considered valid.

For Social Science, candidates must have studied at least two subjects among History, Geography, Economics, or Political Science, with History or Geography being compulsory.

For languages, candidates must have studied the concerned subject as a major or subsidiary subject at the graduation level.

Educational Qualification for Paper 2 (Higher Secondary)

For higher secondary subjects, candidates must hold a master’s degree with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject and a B.Ed., BA B.Ed., or B.Sc. B.Ed. qualification. Candidates with 45% marks in a master’s degree along with B.Ed. as per NCTE norms, or 55% marks in a master’s degree along with a three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed. integrated course, are also eligible.

Commerce candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in Commerce with at least 50% marks. Postgraduates in Entrepreneurship, Accounting, or Business Studies can also apply.

For Computer Science, eligibility extends to those with MCA, BCA, BE, B.Tech in Computer Science/IT, or equivalent qualifications with at least 50% marks. In this subject, B.Ed. is not mandatory.

For Agriculture, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Horticulture with 50% marks and a postgraduate degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Seed Science and Technology, Soil Science, or Horticulture.

For Music, candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in Music with at least 50% marks from a recognized university or board.

Exam Pattern for Bihar STET 2025

The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will include 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. Out of these, 100 questions will be subject-specific while the remaining 50 will assess teaching aptitude and other skills. The duration of the exam will be two and a half hours.

Syllabus for Bihar STET 2025

For Paper 1, the syllabus will align with the undergraduate level courses taught in Bihar universities. For Paper 2, the syllabus will match the postgraduate-level courses.

Passing Marks for Bihar STET 2025

General category candidates must score 50%, Backward Class candidates must score 45.5%, and Extremely Backward Class candidates must score 42.5%. For SC, ST, women, and differently-abled candidates, the passing mark is set at 40%.

Application Fee for Bihar STET 2025

For one paper, candidates in General, EWS, BC, and EBC categories must pay ₹960, while SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates will pay ₹760. For both papers, the fee is ₹1440 for General, EWS, BC, and EBC, while SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates will pay ₹1140.

Application Process

The application process includes three steps: registration, filling out the form, and paying the fee. Applicants must upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the specified format. Photos must have a plain background, clear facial features, and no accessories like caps or sunglasses.

Along with the application, candidates must upload self-attested documents including 10th, 12th, graduation, post-graduation certificates, B.Ed. certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), residential proof, and disability certificates (if applicable).

The Bihar STET 2025 notification offers a crucial opportunity for aspiring teachers in the state. With lifetime validity of the eligibility certificate and clear provisions for secondary and higher secondary subjects, the exam serves as a gateway to government teaching jobs under BPSC TRE-4. Candidates must carefully check eligibility, syllabus, and deadlines before applying.
