Bihar BEd Admission 2025: NCTE Issues Notice to Over a Dozen BEd Colleges, Admission May Be Stopped in Several Institutes

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued official notices to more than a dozen BEd colleges across Bihar, raising serious concerns over the functioning and affiliation status of several teacher training institutions. The move could potentially impact the Bihar BEd admission process 2025, especially for thousands of candidates who have recently secured seats in these colleges.

Among the colleges receiving notices, a significant number—nearly half—are affiliated with Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University (MMHAPU). A few others are connected to Magadh University and Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) in Darbhanga.

NCTE Tightens Regulations on BEd Colleges in Bihar

The NCTE has increased its vigilance following growing complaints regarding irregularities in infrastructure, teaching faculty, and compliance with norms across various BEd institutions. According to sources, colleges that failed to meet the minimum required standards for teacher education or did not renew their affiliations properly have now been served warnings.

This development comes just as the Bihar BEd CET 2025 Round 1 results were recently declared, with over 36,000 students allotted BEd colleges across the state. Many now fear their allotted institutions might be under the scanner.

Key Universities Affected

  1. Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University (MMHAPU):

    • At least six colleges under MMHAPU’s jurisdiction have been issued notices.

    • These colleges allegedly failed to meet infrastructure and faculty norms mandated by the NCTE.

  2. Magadh University:

    • Several colleges affiliated with Magadh University have been flagged for operational discrepancies.

    • Some may have their admissions temporarily put on hold.

  3. Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga:

    • A few colleges under LNMU, which is the conducting body for Bihar BEd CET 2025, are also on the list.

What This Means for BEd Aspirants

This sudden regulatory action could cause uncertainty for thousands of aspiring teachers who have recently gone through the Bihar BEd counselling 2025. Candidates allotted to colleges that have received notices may face delayed or cancelled admissions, depending on how the institutions respond to NCTE’s observations.

Students are advised to regularly check the official websites of their respective universities and the Bihar BEd Common Entrance Test (CET) portal for updates regarding admission status.

Students Demand Transparency and Action

Following the NCTE’s move, student groups and teacher associations have demanded greater transparency from universities and stricter action against non-compliant institutions. Some have also urged the Bihar government to intervene and ensure that students’ academic futures are not jeopardized due to administrative negligence.

One candidate, recently allotted a college under MMHAPU, said:
“We have worked hard to clear the entrance exam and secure a seat. It’s deeply unsettling to know that the college may not be valid or up to standard. Authorities must act fast to clarify the situation.”

Why Did NCTE Serve the Notices?

According to education department insiders, the NCTE has cited several reasons in their notices, including:

  • Lack of properly qualified faculty

  • Absence of required physical infrastructure

  • Irregularities in student intake process

  • Non-compliance with updated curriculum mandates

  • Expired or invalid affiliations with parent universities

In some cases, colleges had reportedly not submitted required documentation for continued approval or renewal of NCTE recognition.

Bihar BEd Admission 2025 – What Happens Next?

Given the timing of the notices—just after the release of Bihar BEd CET 2025 Round 1 results—the next few weeks will be crucial. The NCTE has given the colleges a limited window to respond and furnish proof of compliance.

If colleges fail to meet requirements within the stipulated period, they may be de-recognized, and their admissions could be cancelled for the 2025–26 academic year.

What Students Should Do Now

If you have been allotted a college that is under scrutiny:

  • Contact the college administration immediately to confirm its current NCTE recognition status.

  • Visit the official LNMU Bihar BEd CET website for any announcements regarding de-allocated institutions.

  • Keep your documents ready in case of re-counselling or reallocation by the university.

In the meantime, students are also advised to avoid making fee payments until clarity is provided by their respective colleges or the counselling authority.

Need for Reforms in Teacher Education

This situation has once again highlighted the urgent need for reforms in teacher education institutions in Bihar. While the demand for qualified teachers remains high, unchecked proliferation of substandard BEd colleges has undermined the quality of education.

Experts recommend:

  • Periodic audits by NCTE and state education departments

  • Mandatory faculty recruitment based on eligibility norms

  • Digital tracking of student intake and academic performance

As the Bihar BEd admission 2025 process moves forward, students and guardians are urged to stay informed and vigilant. This is a wake-up call for both aspiring teachers and educational regulators to uphold standards in teacher education.
