BHU PG Admission 2025: Last Chance to Apply for Postgraduate Courses

Published on

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced the closing of its postgraduate admission process for the academic year 2025. Today, 17 August 2025, marks the final deadline for students seeking admission into various postgraduate (PG) courses offered by the university. The application process will shut at 11:59 PM, leaving only a few hours for candidates to complete their registration.

This final opportunity comes under the mop-up round of admissions. The university has officially declared that nearly one thousand PG seats remain vacant across 385 subject groups. These seats are available not only in the main campus but also in affiliated colleges, giving aspiring candidates a last chance to secure their place in one of India’s most prestigious universities.

BHU PG admission 2025: Registration details

Students who have not yet applied can register through the official portal bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in. The registration fee for this mop-up round has been set at Rs 500.

Candidates are urged to check the availability of seats before applying. The university admission committee has repeatedly advised applicants to review the list of vacant seats uploaded on the student portal. This step ensures that candidates do not face issues after completing registration.

Seats available in affiliated colleges

The university has also released details of vacant seats in its affiliated colleges. Arya Mahila PG College, Vasanta Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Vasanta Kanya Mahavidyalaya, and DAV PG College have several courses still open for admission.

Even in paid seats, opportunities remain available for students across different subject groups. For general category candidates, vacant seats are limited, but some courses still report double-digit availability. Reserved categories also have seats open, though numbers vary across disciplines.

Courses with remaining vacancies

BHU PG Admission 2025 has highlighted several courses where seats remain unfilled.

In Master of Arts (MA) programs, subjects such as Hindi, Sanskrit, Bangla, Philosophy, History, and Archaeology still offer opportunities. The Bharat Adhyayan Kendra continues to provide seats in MA Hindu Studies, where one general category paid seat is open. Additionally, six to eight seats are vacant across reserved categories.

The Master of Science (MSc) Forensic Science course, which requires a special fee, has ten seats open in the general category and a total of 26 vacant seats across all categories.

Vacancies at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus

Beyond the affiliated colleges, the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus of BHU also reports unfilled seats. Vacancies exist in vocational courses as well as regular postgraduate programs.

This extension of opportunities across multiple centers of the university increases the chances for students still waiting to secure admission. The administration, however, insists that students verify details carefully before proceeding.

Importance of the mop-up round

The mop-up round has become crucial in filling leftover seats after previous admission rounds. Universities like BHU conduct this process to ensure that deserving students are not left out while also making efficient use of available academic resources.

For BHU PG Admission 2025, the mop-up round is particularly significant, given the large number of applicants who seek to join the university every year. With around one thousand seats still vacant, this stage offers a golden opportunity for students who might have missed earlier deadlines or failed to secure a seat in the first rounds.

Admission opportunities across disciplines

The diversity of courses offered by BHU underlines the wide scope available for applicants. From literature to science, history to forensic studies, the institution caters to multiple academic interests.

Candidates opting for humanities can still apply for Hindi, Sanskrit, Bangla, Philosophy, and Archaeology. Those inclined toward scientific disciplines may find opportunities in specialized courses like Forensic Science. Such diversity allows students from different academic backgrounds to find suitable courses according to their career goals.

BHU PG Admission 2025: Steps for applicants

Applicants must complete the following steps before the midnight deadline:

  1. Visit the official website bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in.

  2. Log in using their registration credentials.

  3. Check the updated list of vacant seats.

  4. Select the desired subject group and college.

  5. Pay the registration fee of Rs 500.

  6. Confirm the application before submission closes at 11:59 PM.

Failure to complete these steps on time will mean missing out on BHU’s final admission window for 2025.

University’s advisory for students

The BHU admission committee has issued several advisories for students during this mop-up round. Candidates are reminded that registration alone does not guarantee a seat. Allocation depends on the availability of seats in each category and subject group.

The committee has also emphasized transparency in the process, ensuring students are well-informed about remaining vacancies. This prevents confusion and helps streamline the admission procedure.

Growing demand for BHU PG courses

Every year, thousands of students from across India apply for postgraduate courses at BHU. The university’s reputation, diverse programs, and strong academic infrastructure attract applicants from multiple regions and disciplines.

Even though several rounds of admission have already concluded, the number of aspirants remains high. The mop-up round provides relief to many who might otherwise lose their chance to study at this historic institution.

Affiliated colleges play a crucial role

Affiliated colleges under BHU extend opportunities beyond the main campus. Institutions such as Arya Mahila PG College and DAV PG College have consistently provided seats in various disciplines.

This year, they once again hold a share of the remaining vacancies, making them vital contributors to the university’s overall admission process. For students unable to secure a seat on the main campus, these colleges offer equally valuable alternatives.

Paid seats remain available

Apart from regular category seats, BHU has clarified that paid seats are also still open in select courses. This applies to both the main campus and affiliated colleges.

For general category students, most of the regular seats are filled, but paid options remain. Reserved categories also have limited vacancies in different disciplines. This dual system ensures that students from multiple backgrounds find opportunities during the final stage.

The BHU PG Admission 2025 mop-up round marks the last chance for students to secure admission in postgraduate programs at Banaras Hindu University. With nearly one thousand seats still vacant across 385 subject groups, this round offers diverse options in arts, sciences, and vocational studies.

Candidates must act quickly, as the registration process ends today, 17 August 2025, at 11:59 PM. The official portal bhucuetpg.samarth.edu.in remains open until midnight, and the fee for registration is Rs 500.

BHU’s legacy and academic excellence make this opportunity invaluable for aspiring postgraduates. Those who complete the process on time will step closer to becoming part of one of India’s most prestigious educational institutions.
