Weather Update: Reduced Rainfall and Increased Temperature in Bihar

Published on

Over the past few days, the weather patterns in Bihar, including the capital city of Patna, have seen a noticeable shift. Rainfall has gradually decreased across most parts of the state. The meteorological department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and lightning in 23 districts of Bihar. Over the next 48 hours, the temperature is expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius, which could impact the overall weather conditions in the state.

Decreased Rainfall Across the State

In recent days, Bihar has witnessed a reduction in rainfall, especially in the southern regions, including Patna. While northern parts of the state recorded significant rainfall over the last 24 hours, the southern parts, including the capital, experienced cloudy skies and relatively dry weather. The pattern of rainfall has been inconsistent, with only a few locations receiving substantial precipitation.

Thunderstorm and Lightning Warnings for 23 Districts

According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, a warning for thunderstorm activity and lightning strikes has been issued for 23 districts across the state. The weather department has advised caution as several areas may experience unpredictable weather patterns. It is anticipated that the temperature will rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next two days, further intensifying the overall weather conditions. Although there will be some scattered rain showers in specific locations, the overall weather trend suggests a gradual shift toward warmer conditions.

Heavy Rainfall Recorded in Specific Locations

In terms of rainfall, the highest amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours was recorded at Sonbarsa in Sitamarhi, where 73 mm of rain was observed. This was followed by other regions experiencing moderate rainfall, though not as high in volume. Patna itself registered a maximum temperature of 30.0°C, and Valmiki Nagar reported the highest temperature at 33.0°C, indicating a warm day despite the overall cloudy conditions.

Other Areas with Significant Rainfall

Other regions in Bihar also experienced significant rainfall over the past day. In Madhepura’s Bihari Ganj, 62.8 mm of rain was recorded. Kishanganj’s Taibpur followed with 52.4 mm of rain, while Supaul’s Birpur received 40 mm. Several areas in the Araria district, including Farbisganj, Narpatganj, and Araria town itself, also saw considerable rainfall, ranging from 25.5 mm to 30.6 mm. Other towns in the state, including Khagaria, Begusarai, and Purnia, experienced rainfall ranging from 12 mm to 20 mm. These figures indicate varying rainfall patterns, with some regions receiving more substantial showers than others.

Temperature Trends in Major Cities

Temperature trends in Bihar’s major cities have been relatively stable, though slightly on the warmer side. In Patna, the maximum temperature recorded was 30.0°C, while the minimum was 23.8°C. Nearby cities such as Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur reported similar weather patterns, with Gaya registering a maximum temperature of 32.4°C and a minimum of 23.4°C. Bhagalpur recorded 30.5°C for the maximum temperature, while Muzaffarpur had a slightly cooler day, with a maximum of 27.6°C and a minimum of 23.2°C. These temperature fluctuations are typical for this time of year as the region transitions from the monsoon season to more stable weather conditions.

Forecast for the Next 48 Hours

The weather forecast for the next 48 hours suggests that Bihar will experience some degree of temperature rise, particularly in the southern and central regions. Although thunderstorms and lightning are expected in several districts, the overall rain will not be as intense as in the previous days. The increase in temperature is likely to make the weather feel warmer, especially in cities like Patna and Gaya. The temperature rise of 2-3°C may lead to a more humid atmosphere, which could also affect outdoor activities and comfort levels for residents.

Impact of Changing Weather on Daily Life

As the weather patterns shift, the reduced rainfall may have both positive and negative effects on daily life in Bihar. On the one hand, the increase in temperature will provide some relief from the cooler, rainy days that have persisted for several weeks. This could lead to more clear skies and better outdoor conditions for people. On the other hand, the rise in temperature may also lead to higher humidity, which could make the heat feel more intense, especially during the daytime.

The warnings for thunderstorms and lightning mean that citizens in affected areas should remain cautious. People are advised to stay indoors during the stormy periods and avoid open spaces where lightning strikes are a risk. Farmers in rural areas will also need to be mindful of the weather forecast to plan their activities accordingly, as sudden rain or lightning could affect crops and livestock.

In conclusion, Bihar’s weather has shifted from consistent rainfall to a more sporadic pattern, with the central and northern parts of the state experiencing more significant rainfall than the south. As per the weather department’s warnings, thunderstorms and lightning strikes are expected in 23 districts, with temperature rising by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours. While rainfall in some areas like Sitamarhi and Madhepura has been considerable, the majority of the state is facing milder conditions.

In the coming days, citizens in Bihar should stay prepared for the possibility of scattered rain showers and temperature fluctuations. Keeping an eye on weather updates will help people manage their daily routines, ensuring that they can adapt to the changing weather conditions.
