The residents of Bihar may finally get relief from the relentless humid heat. According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, a low-pressure system is becoming active over the northern Bay of Bengal. Currently, the state has recorded 44 percent less rainfall than the normal average for this period. Bihar has received only 241.9 mm of rainfall so far, compared to the normal seasonal average of 432.2 mm.

Rainfall Data from Key Districts Over the Last 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, several areas in southern Bihar have experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. The highest recorded rainfall was in Dumaria, Gaya, where 85.4 mm of rain was observed. In Dhanrua, located in Patna district, 50.4 mm of rainfall was recorded. Other districts also received varying amounts of rain, indicating the beginning of a more active monsoon phase.

Jehanabad recorded 66.2 mm, Obra in Aurangabad received 52.2 mm, and Barachatti in Gaya registered 43.6 mm of rain. Meanwhile, areas in and around Patna like Fatuha, Daniyawan, and Dhanrua received between 35.4 mm to 50.4 mm of rain. Other areas like Kurtha in Arwal and Rafiganj in Aurangabad also recorded notable precipitation. Even districts in northern Bihar, such as Motihari, Buxar, Vaishali, and Siwan, saw light to moderate rain, ranging from 14.6 mm to 27.1 mm.

Temperature Trends in Major Cities

Despite the rainfall, temperatures remained high across most parts of the state during the day. In Patna, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.0 degrees Celsius, while the minimum stood at 29.3 degrees Celsius. Gaya experienced a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius.

Bhagalpur recorded a maximum of 34.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 29.6 degrees Celsius. Muzaffarpur, another key city in North Bihar, registered a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 30.5 degrees Celsius. The continued high temperatures in these cities have kept the discomfort level high, although evening cloud cover and wind changes are starting to offer some respite.

Evening Showers Bring Temporary Relief from Humidity

Throughout the day, people in Patna and surrounding areas struggled with intense sunlight and moisture-laden winds. The combination of high heat and humidity led to significant discomfort.
