PMCH Nurses Protest Against Salary Cut, Warn of Indefinite Strike from December 31

Published on

Tension is rising at Patna Medical College Hospital as nurses continue protesting against an alleged salary cut. Nurses working at PMCH staged a strong demonstration inside the hospital campus. They accused the administration of reducing salaries without prior notice. The protest has disrupted the hospital atmosphere and drawn attention statewide.

Nurses Allege Sudden Salary Reduction

According to protesting nurses, their salaries were reduced abruptly. They claim no prior communication or written order was issued. The decision has caused anger and distress among nursing staff. Many nurses said the deduction has affected their monthly household budgets.

Nurses stated that a total of 415 staff members were impacted. The salary cut was reflected directly in their recent payments. This unexpected reduction has raised serious concerns among employees.

Efforts to Resolve Issue Fail

Nurses said they have been trying to resolve the issue peacefully. For the past four days, representatives have attempted to meet the hospital superintendent. Despite repeated efforts, no clear solution has emerged.

The nursing staff claimed discussions have remained inconclusive. They alleged that officials failed to provide satisfactory explanations. This lack of response has further intensified dissatisfaction.

Economic Impact Raises Concern

Protesting nurses emphasized the financial impact of the salary cut. Many said rising living costs have already strained their finances. The reduction has added further pressure on families.

Nurses described the move as unfair and unjustified. They said frontline healthcare workers should not face such treatment. Several nurses highlighted their critical role in patient care.

Warning of Indefinite Strike

Nurses have issued a clear ultimatum to the administration. They warned that demands must be addressed by December 30. If unresolved, they plan to begin an indefinite strike from December 31.

They stated that work boycott would be a last resort. However, continued silence from authorities has left them with limited options. Nurses said responsibility would lie with the administration.

Hospital Services May Be Affected

The threat of a strike has raised concerns about patient care. PMCH is one of Bihar’s largest government hospitals. A prolonged strike could affect healthcare services significantly.

Patients and attendants expressed anxiety over the situation. Many fear delays in treatment if the strike proceeds. Hospital authorities are yet to outline contingency plans.

No Official Response Yet

As of now, the administration of Patna Medical College Hospital has not issued an official statement. No clarification has been provided regarding the salary cut. This silence has fueled speculation and unrest.

Nurses said they are awaiting written assurance from management. They want the salary deduction reversed immediately. They also demand transparency in payroll decisions.

Protest Gains Momentum

The protest has continued to grow in intensity. More nurses are joining demonstrations each day. Slogans were raised demanding justice and fair treatment.

Nurses insisted their agitation remains peaceful. They said patient care remains a priority for now. However, they warned patience is wearing thin.

Administrative Intervention Sought

Protesters have appealed for higher administrative intervention. They urged health department officials to step in. Nurses believe external mediation could resolve the issue quickly.

They also appealed to the state government for support. According to them, frontline healthcare workers deserve respect and security. Timely action could prevent escalation.

December 31 Deadline Looms

With December 31 approaching, pressure is mounting on PMCH authorities. Nurses have reiterated their stand repeatedly. They said continued inaction will force them into a strike.

Hospital sources acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. However, no formal talks have been announced yet. The coming days will be crucial.

The PMCH nurses’ protest highlights growing concerns within the healthcare workforce. Sudden salary cuts have triggered unrest and uncertainty. Without prompt resolution, an indefinite strike may disrupt hospital services.

As deadlines draw closer, attention now turns to the administration. Swift dialogue and transparent decisions may help restore normalcy. Until then, tension continues to build at PMCH.
