Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar, is organising a two-day national seminar on January 9 and 10. The seminar focuses on the promotion of the Hindi language and its growing role in global communication. Scholars, diplomats, and academics from India and abroad are participating in the event, making it a significant academic gathering.

The seminar is titled “The Role of Various Institutions in the Promotion of Hindi and Global Dialogue”. It aims to encourage meaningful discussion on how Hindi can contribute to international communication while staying rooted in India’s rich knowledge traditions. More than 100 participants are attending the seminar, reflecting wide interest in the subject.

Focus on Hindi and Knowledge Traditions

The main objective of the seminar is to explore the cultural, educational, and intellectual relevance of Hindi in the modern world. Discussions will examine how the language can adapt to global platforms without losing its traditional values. Experts will share views on strengthening Hindi in academic, administrative, and public spaces.

Participants include vice-chancellors, senior professors, researchers, writers, editors, and administrators. Officials from organisations working for Hindi promotion are also part of the discussions. Some international scholars are joining online, adding a global dimension to the event.

Inaugural Session on January 9

The inaugural session will be held on January 9 at the Sushma Swaraj Auditorium on the Nalanda University campus. Vice-Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi will introduce the central theme of the seminar. His address is expected to highlight Nalanda’s historical importance and its relevance in today’s global academic landscape.

Several prominent guests will attend the inaugural session. These include Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General of the Bihar Museum and former Chief Secretary of Bihar. India’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Abhay Kumar, will also be present. Former Rajya Sabha MP and noted editor Tarun Vijay is another key speaker at the event.

Academic Sessions Over Two Days

The seminar will feature seven academic sessions spread across two days. Each session will focus on different aspects of Hindi and its role in society. A concluding valedictory session will be held on January 10 to summarise discussions and present key suggestions.

Scholars from leading institutions such as Banaras Hindu University, the University of Delhi, the University of Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur will present their research and ideas. Academics from other reputed universities are also participating in the sessions.

Hindi in Journalism and Modern Technology

Several sessions will focus on the role of Hindi in journalism and editing. Speakers will discuss challenges faced by Hindi media in the digital age. The importance of quality content and language standards will also be highlighted.

The use of modern technology and artificial intelligence in the development of Hindi will be another key topic. Experts will discuss how digital tools can help expand the reach of Hindi globally. These discussions aim to connect traditional language practices with modern innovations.

Global Perspective on Hindi

The seminar will also examine Hindi’s growing global presence. One session will focus on the idea of Hindi as a possible official language of the United Nations. Speakers will discuss its widespread usage and future potential in international forums.

Cultural and philosophical aspects of Hindi will be discussed in detail. The role of universities and language promotion institutions in strengthening Hindi across the country will also be examined.

Valedictory Session and Future Roadmap

The seminar will conclude on January 10 with a valedictory session. This session will summarise key discussions and outline suggestions for the future. Organisers aim to develop a clear roadmap for strengthening Hindi in global dialogue.

Inspired by Nalanda’s timeless intellectual legacy, the seminar seeks to position Hindi as a language of knowledge, culture, and global communication. The event highlights the growing academic and international interest in Hindi and its evolving role in the modern world.
