Mother in Buxar District Takes Poison with Three Children ; Two Dead and One Critical

Published on

In a heart-wrenching incident in Buxar, Bihar, a mother tragically consumed poison with her three children. The incident took place on the night of Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in the Naya Bhojpur village, located under the Naya Bhojpur police station area. Sabita Devi, the mother, reportedly gave poison to her three children—five-year-old Jyoti, three-year-old Akash, and one-year-old Vikas Kumar—and then ingested it herself.

Tragic Outcome of the Poisoning Incident

When Sabita’s husband, Sunil Kumar, a mason by profession, returned home after work, he found his family in an unconscious state. In a panic, Sunil screamed for help, which alerted the nearby villagers. The villagers quickly rushed to the scene and took the unconscious family members to the local Sadar Hospital. However, upon arrival, doctors declared Sabita and two of her children, Jyoti and Akash, dead. Vikas, the youngest child, was still alive but in critical condition.

Vikas was immediately referred for better treatment to a hospital in Buxar due to his severe condition. Doctors continue to monitor his health, and his family is hoping for a miracle. This tragic event has left the entire village in a state of shock and grief.

Family’s Financial Struggles and Domestic Disputes

The family of the deceased woman, Sabita Devi, is said to have been financially struggling. Sabita’s husband, Sunil Kumar, works as a Raj Mistri (mason), repairing domestic appliances to support his family. Villagers have stated that the family’s economic situation was weak, and they were often seen facing hardships.

According to neighbors, Sabita had a domestic argument with her husband, Sunil Kumar, before this tragic incident. The disagreement is believed to have triggered Sabita’s drastic decision to take such a step, shocking the entire village. While the precise cause of the dispute is not clear, it is speculated that it played a significant role in her decision to poison her children and herself.

An Inexplicable Tragedy

Sabita, in a desperate moment, decided to take poison with her three children. She first gave the poison to her daughter, Jyoti, her son, Akash, and her youngest child, Vikas Kumar, before consuming it herself. As their conditions worsened, family members rushed them to the hospital in an attempt to save their lives. Unfortunately, the damage caused by the poison was irreversible for Jyoti, Akash, and Sabita. The grief-stricken family is now left to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy.

Vikas’s condition remains critical, and he has been shifted to a hospital in Buxar for further treatment. The medical team is making every effort to save the young boy, who is now the only surviving member of the family’s immediate circle.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the tragic incident, the Naya Bhojpur police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. The police are looking into the circumstances leading up to the poisoning, including the domestic dispute that may have triggered Sabita’s decision. They have started speaking to family members, neighbors, and locals to understand the situation better.

Authorities are working to gather more details about the family’s financial troubles and domestic life to get to the root of the incident. The investigation will also focus on the toxic substance that was consumed by the family and if any foul play was involved.

A Shocking Event in a Struggling Village

The residents of Naya Bhojpur village have been left in disbelief and sorrow following the news of this incident. They say that while the family was known to face financial difficulties, no one could have anticipated such a tragic event. The villagers are struggling to comprehend how a domestic argument could escalate to such a drastic and heartbreaking decision by Sabita.

This tragedy has highlighted the vulnerability of families under economic stress, and the community is now questioning what could have been done to prevent such an incident. Sabita’s decision to end the lives of her children and herself has shaken everyone who knew her. The village is left mourning not only for the loss of three innocent lives but also for the young child, Vikas, whose future remains uncertain.

This shocking incident has raised several questions about domestic disputes, economic stress, and the consequences of unresolved emotional issues within families. While the immediate focus is on the condition of the surviving child, Vikas, the broader discussion remains about how families facing financial and emotional struggles can be supported.

The grief-stricken family, devastated by this unimaginable loss, now faces the painful task of rebuilding their lives. The death of Sabita and her two children will leave a permanent void in the lives of those who loved them, and the community as a whole will struggle to cope with the aftermath. The investigation into the case will continue, but the pain of the family will likely remain long after the authorities have completed their work.

As the tragedy unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of emotional well-being and family support, particularly in times of financial hardship. The loss of Sabita and her children will forever haunt those who knew them, and the village of Naya Bhojpur will never forget this heartbreaking incident.
