Cold Mornings Continue Across Bihar as Fog Persists in Several Districts

Published on

Cold weather conditions continued across Bihar, with dense fog and low temperatures affecting daily life in many districts. On Sunday, minimum temperatures in 21 districts dropped below 10 degrees Celsius. Weather conditions remained stable, with no major fluctuation expected in the coming days. Morning and evening hours are likely to feel colder, while daytime sunshine may offer some relief.

According to weather observations, the lowest minimum temperature of the state was recorded in Rajgir at 5.0 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the highest maximum temperature reached 27.8 degrees Celsius in Kaimur. These variations highlight the mixed winter pattern currently prevailing across the state.

Foggy Mornings Expected in Patna and Other Districts

Residents of Patna and several parts of Bihar may experience foggy mornings on Monday and Tuesday. Meteorological conditions suggest moderate to dense fog during early hours. However, temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged. The cold will be more noticeable during mornings and evenings, while afternoons may remain pleasant due to sunshine.

On Sunday morning, moderate to dense fog covered Patna along with 20 other districts. The lowest visibility in the state was recorded at 50 meters in Gaya Ji. Such low visibility disrupted early morning movement in several regions. Despite the fog, maximum temperatures across Bihar showed an upward trend during the day.

In Patna, the weather remained partly favorable on Sunday. The maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 9.6 degrees Celsius. Weather experts expect sunshine to appear in Patna on Monday, bringing temporary relief from the cold.

Temperature Trends Show Slight Improvement During Daytime

While nights remain cold, daytime temperatures have improved in many districts. On Sunday, 21 districts reported minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Rajgir recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 5.0 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest location in the state. Kaimur reported the highest maximum temperature at 27.8 degrees Celsius, indicating warmer daytime conditions in southern districts.

Meteorologists stated that no major change is expected in maximum and minimum temperatures over the next two days. The gradual rise in daytime temperature suggests a slow shift toward milder winter conditions, though mornings will continue to remain chilly.

Weather Conditions Improve Slightly in Muzaffarpur

In Muzaffarpur district, cold intensity has reduced due to an improvement in night temperatures. Residents experienced less shivering as both day and night temperatures showed gradual improvement. The maximum temperature has climbed well above the normal average for this time of the year.

Despite the rise, the minimum temperature remains below normal, indicating lingering winter conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, sunshine is expected from early morning on Monday. This may help maintain comfortable daytime conditions across the region.

Dr. A. Sattar, the nodal officer of the Rural Meteorological Center located in Pusa, said that the speed of westerly winds has decreased over the past three to four days. Due to this change, the weather may remain pleasant throughout the week. Reduced wind speed has also contributed to improved daytime warmth.

Maximum Temperature Reaches Seasonal High in Recent Days

Over the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature increased by one degree Celsius to reach 24 degrees Celsius. This reading is 3.3 degrees above the normal average. It is also the highest maximum temperature recorded so far this year.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature also increased by one degree Celsius. Despite this rise, it remained 3.3 degrees below normal at 6 degrees Celsius. Westerly winds continued to blow at an average speed of 4 kilometers per hour throughout the day. These winds played a role in maintaining dry and stable weather conditions.

Meteorological experts believe that steady wind patterns and clear skies are responsible for the rise in daytime temperatures. However, cold nights are likely to persist for a few more days.

Winter Chill Continues in Bhagalpur District

Bhagalpur district continued to experience cold nights due to dew formation and chilly westerly winds. Residents reported persistent cold conditions similar to previous days. According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department, cold nights are expected to continue in the short term.

However, relief from severe cold during nighttime hours is likely after January 24. Gradual warming trends may reduce the intensity of winter nights in the region. Weather data from the past 24 hours shows a rise in both day and night temperatures.

The maximum temperature in Bhagalpur increased by 0.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature rose by 1.1 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the district recorded a maximum temperature of 23.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius. These readings were 2.2 degrees and 0.9 degrees above the normal averages, respectively.

Stable Weather Pattern Likely to Continue

Overall, Bihar is experiencing a stable winter pattern with cold mornings, foggy conditions, and pleasant afternoons. While nights remain chilly in most districts, gradual improvement in temperatures indicates a slow transition toward milder weather.

Meteorological officials advise people to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog. Commuters are urged to take necessary precautions while traveling during early hours. With sunshine expected during the day, outdoor activities may remain comfortable in most areas.

As winter progresses, weather conditions are expected to improve further after late January. Until then, residents across Bihar should be prepared for cold mornings and fog, especially in northern and central districts.
