Bihar Elections 2025: Chirag Paswan Will Contest with NDA, Confirms Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | As Bihar gears up for the upcoming 2025 Assembly Elections, political speculation is once again dominating headlines. Amid rumors that Chirag Paswan and his party Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) might go solo in the elections, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has categorically dismissed such reports, affirming that Chirag is very much part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and will contest the elections with the coalition.

His remarks come at a time when alliance dynamics in Bihar are being closely watched, especially with the potential return of Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) to the NDA fold.

Chirag Paswan to Stay with NDA, Confirms Bihar Deputy CM

Speaking to the press on Saturday during the inauguration of an industrial unit in Bela Industrial Area, Muzaffarpur, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha responded directly to questions regarding Chirag Paswan’s political positioning.

“Chirag Paswan is a senior and trusted leader of the NDA. He will fight the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections with the alliance. Any speculation about him contesting separately is baseless,” Sinha said.

He further emphasized that Chirag is currently serving as a Union Minister in the Modi government, and there is no ambiguity about his commitment to the NDA.

Will Mukesh Sahani’s VIP Join NDA Again?

The other key development gaining traction in Bihar politics is whether Mukesh Sahani, leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), will rejoin the NDA alliance. Although Sahani was once a part of the BJP-led coalition, he parted ways after a fallout during the last election cycle.

When asked about VIP’s potential reentry, Deputy CM Sinha stated:

“That decision lies with the top leadership of the NDA. Any move regarding the inclusion of new allies will be made at the central level.”

This diplomatic response leaves room for negotiation and suggests that the BJP’s door remains open to smaller allies, depending on electoral calculations.

Investment Climate in Bihar Improving, Says Sinha

While addressing the media during the industrial unit launch event, Sinha also took the opportunity to highlight Bihar’s improving investment climate. He credited the state’s strengthened law and order system as the key reason why more industries are now choosing to invest in Bihar.

“Due to enhanced governance and better policing, Bihar is emerging as a favored destination for industrial investment,” he added.

The event marked the inauguration of a new production facility in Bela Industrial Area, which is being seen as a positive sign for Bihar’s economic development in the lead-up to the elections.

Chirag Paswan’s Role in NDA: Symbolic or Strategic?

Chirag Paswan, the son of late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, leads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which is viewed as a significant Dalit-centric party in Bihar. Despite splitting from the original LJP, Chirag has maintained a pro-BJP stance and was inducted as a Union Minister of State in Modi 3.0.

His inclusion in the NDA cabinet is seen as a strategic move by the BJP to:

  • Consolidate the Dalit vote bank

  • Retain Paswan’s legacy within the NDA

  • Balance alliance equations ahead of the state polls

Political analysts note that Chirag’s support will be crucial, especially in western Bihar and among Paswan community voters.

Why the Rumors of Solo Contest?

Despite his alliance with the NDA, rumors of Chirag Paswan contesting independently surfaced due to:

  • Past tensions between Chirag and senior Bihar BJP leaders

  • His strong public image as an independent youth leader

  • Ongoing efforts to rebuild his party’s structure post-LJP split

However, with Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha’s latest clarification, it now appears that these speculations were more political noise than actual intent.

What About the VIP Party?

The Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), which represents the Nishad (fishermen) community, could play a kingmaker role in certain regions if brought back into the NDA fold.

Although Mukesh Sahani was previously seen as drifting toward opposition spaces, recent behind-the-scenes interactions hint at a reconciliation effort.

Key considerations for VIP’s return include:

  • Seat-sharing negotiations

  • Past friction with BJP leadership

  • Assurance of respectful political space

Bringing VIP back into NDA could help the BJP solidify caste-based micro alliances, a traditional strength in Bihar’s political arithmetic.

Bihar Election 2025: The Road Ahead

With just a few months left for the Assembly elections, the political ground in Bihar is heating up. The BJP-JD(U) alliance remains the central force, but the inclusion or exclusion of smaller allies like LJP (Ram Vilas) and VIP will significantly influence the final seat tally.

Key Factors to Watch:

  • NDA’s seat-sharing formula

  • Opposition alliances (especially RJD-Congress-Left)

  • Voter mood in rural vs urban constituencies

  • Role of caste equations and emerging youth voters

Political Buzz, Public Mood, and Ground Reports

Public sentiment in Bihar continues to oscillate between development expectations, caste considerations, and leadership narratives. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity remains high in rural Bihar, local governance and job creation are emerging as key electoral issues.

The 2025 Bihar elections are not just about retaining power but about redefining coalition politics in one of India’s most politically vibrant states.

Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha’s confirmation about Chirag Paswan contesting alongside NDA has settled one part of the political puzzle in Bihar. However, questions remain over VIP’s future, seat-sharing arrangements, and on-ground alliance dynamics.

As Bihar inches closer to the elections, alliances will be tested, loyalties will shift, and political narratives will be sharpened. KKNLive.com will continue to bring you exclusive updates, insider reports, and expert analysis as the story unfolds.
