Bihar Election 2025 : CM Nitish Thanks Voters for Record Turnout in First Phase

Published on

Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his heartfelt thanks to the people of Bihar for the record voter turnout in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. In a tweet, CM Nitish acknowledged the participation of the people and emphasized that Bihar has made remarkable progress over the past years. He further stated that now is the time to push Bihar into the category of the most developed states in India.

Record Voter Turnout in Bihar Election 2025

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections saw a historic voter turnout of 64.66%. This marks an increase in voting participation compared to previous elections. The surge in voter turnout has led to celebrations from both the ruling party and the opposition leaders, though political attacks are also being made by some. In light of the high voter participation, CM Nitish took to social media to urge the people of Bihar to continue their active participation in the upcoming second phase of the elections.

CM Nitish’s Appeal for Continued Voting

In his tweet, CM Nitish Kumar thanked the people of Bihar for their enthusiastic participation in the first phase. He stated that the record voter turnout in this phase was a testament to the growing political awareness and engagement of the people in the state. He also highlighted the tremendous progress Bihar has made in recent years.

The Chief Minister further appealed to the people of Bihar to maintain this momentum and come out in large numbers for the second phase of voting scheduled for November 11, 2025. He emphasized that voting is not just a right but also a duty in a democracy. CM Nitish urged the citizens to ensure that Bihar continues to grow and develop, with respect and progress for all.

Successful Completion of First Phase Voting

The first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 was successfully completed, with no significant issues reported. Vinod Gunjal, the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, confirmed that the election process went smoothly. However, he noted that voting was still ongoing in some areas, and the data was being updated regularly. He also mentioned that the final press release, including updated voter data, would be issued shortly after all the updates were completed.

Record-Breaking Voter Turnout

In this first phase, elections were held across 121 assembly seats in 18 districts of Bihar. The total number of eligible voters was over 3.75 crore, with 64.66% of them casting their votes. This marks the highest voter turnout ever recorded in the state. The previous highest turnout was in the year 2000, when 62.57% of voters participated. The voter turnout in the 2020 Assembly Elections, held during the COVID-19 pandemic, was 57.29%.

This surge in voter participation in Bihar is seen as a positive sign for the democratic process, with people showing a strong commitment to exercising their voting rights. The increased voter turnout reflects the growing political engagement and awareness of the electorate in Bihar.

Political Reactions to Voter Turnout

Following the announcement of the record-breaking voter turnout, several political leaders expressed their satisfaction. Both the ruling party and opposition leaders congratulated the people for their active participation in the electoral process. Some leaders from the opposition, however, used the high voter turnout as an opportunity to launch political attacks, questioning the credibility and fairness of the election process. Despite this, the overall sentiment was one of celebration and encouragement, with the focus remaining on ensuring that the election process continues smoothly in the coming phases.

Future Outlook for the Second Phase

With the second phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections scheduled for November 11, 2025, CM Nitish Kumar’s appeal for continued voter participation is seen as vital. The second phase will cover several more districts, and the electoral outcome will depend on the active involvement of the voters in this phase as well. The government has assured the public that all necessary measures will be in place to ensure a free and fair election process.

CM Nitish’s message emphasizes the importance of every citizen’s vote in shaping the future of Bihar. The call for participation is not just about electing representatives but also about ensuring the state’s continued development and progress.

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has been marked by a record voter turnout, with a total of 64.66% participation. This significant increase in voter engagement has been widely appreciated by both the government and the opposition, although political attacks continue to surface. With the second phase just around the corner, the people of Bihar have been urged to maintain this momentum and vote for a brighter and more developed future for the state. CM Nitish Kumar’s appeal to voters is clear: democracy thrives when citizens actively participate, and this election will help determine the course of Bihar’s future development.
