KKN Gurugram Desk | The Bihar Budget 2025-26 will be presented today in the Legislative Assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will unveil the state’s financial roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year. This will be his second budget presentation, and expectations are high regarding allocations for employment, women’s welfare, and agriculture.
The total budget size is anticipated to be around ₹3.15 lakh crore, a notable increase from last year’s ₹2.78 lakh crore. With elections on the horizon, this budget is expected to focus on public welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and job creation.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has consistently emphasized inclusive development. His Pragati Yatra has highlighted the state’s focus on employment generation, infrastructure, and rural upliftment.
Keeping this in mind, the budget is expected to introduce new schemes for youth employment, education, healthcare, and social security. The state government is likely to increase allocations for job creation, women’s empowerment, and agricultural development.
One of the biggest expectations from this budget is employment generation. The Bihar government has already expanded its target of 10 lakh government jobs to 12 lakh. Additionally, 34 lakh youth are expected to become self-reliant through various skill development programs.
So far, 9 lakh government jobs have been provided, and the government plans to recruit 80,000 more employees across departments, including education and healthcare.
The budget is likely to allocate an additional ₹12,000 crore annually to cover the salaries of new government employees.
With several new road and bridge projects announced during the CM’s Pragati Yatra, major funding will be directed toward rural infrastructure development.
The Panchayati Raj and Rural Works Department are also likely to receive a higher budget to facilitate rapid infrastructure growth in villages and small towns.
Women’s welfare has been a core agenda for the Bihar government. Several pro-women schemes are expected in this year’s budget:
The government is expected to launch new schemes for women’s skill development and support female entrepreneurs by providing low-interest loans and financial grants.
Agriculture is the backbone of Bihar’s economy, and this year’s budget is likely to bring big announcements for farmers.
The state is also expected to introduce new policies for organic farming and agriculture modernization.
The Bihar government is expected to introduce investment-friendly policies to attract businesses and entrepreneurs.
By simplifying business registration processes and offering financial incentives, Bihar aims to become a business-friendly state.
The social security sector is expected to receive significant financial backing in this year’s budget.
With ₹2 lakh financial assistance planned for economically weaker families, the budget aims to improve the standard of living for millions of citizens.
Sector | Budget 2024-25 (₹ in lakh crore) | Expected Budget 2025-26 (₹ in lakh crore) |
---|---|---|
Total Budget | 2.78 | 3.15 |
Employment & Salaries | 10 | 12 |
Rural Development | 15 | 18 |
Agriculture | 8 | 10 |
Education | 20 | 25 |
Healthcare | 12 | 15 |
Social Security | 10 | 14 |
With elections nearing, the Bihar government is likely to increase welfare spending while also focusing on long-term economic growth.
The focus will be on sustainable development, ensuring better employment opportunities, improved infrastructure, and enhanced public welfare programs.
The Bihar Budget 2025-26 is expected to be one of the most ambitious budgets in recent years. With a projected ₹3.15 lakh crore allocation, the state government aims to balance economic growth with social welfare.
With job creation, infrastructure development, women empowerment, and agriculture as key focus areas, this budget is set to strengthen Bihar’s economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
As the budget unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the Bihar government’s financial policies shape the state’s future.
