Bihar Latest News : Competitive Exam Aspirant Dies by Suicide Near Railway Track in Muzaffarpur

Published on

A shocking and heartbreaking incident was reported from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district on Saturday late evening. A 20-year-old student preparing for competitive examinations allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train. The incident occurred near the Khabda Gumti railway crossing and has left the entire area in deep shock. The tragedy unfolded just a day before the Daroga recruitment examination, adding to the gravity of the situation.

The sudden death has not only devastated the student’s family but has also triggered widespread grief among local residents and students. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the mental pressure faced by competitive exam aspirants in Bihar.

Deceased Identified as Sanya Kumari From Vaishali

The deceased student has been identified as Sanya Kumari. She was a resident of Govindpur Bela village under the Baligaon police station area in Vaishali district. Sanya was preparing for competitive examinations and was scheduled to appear in the Daroga recruitment exam on Sunday. Family members said she had been working hard for the exam and was fully focused on her studies.

Sanya had been living in Muzaffarpur for educational purposes. She stayed in the Khabda area to remain close to her coaching institute. According to relatives, she was disciplined and serious about her career goals.

Incident Took Place While Returning From Coaching

According to preliminary police information, Sanya was returning to her rented accommodation after attending coaching classes on Saturday evening. While passing through the Khabda Gumti area, she reportedly stopped near the railway track. Police said she parked her bicycle near the crossing.

As a train approached the spot, she suddenly went onto the railway track. The incident happened within moments. People present nearby could not understand the situation in time. Before any help could reach her, the train had already passed. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.

Police and GRP Teams Reached the Spot

After the incident was reported, a team from the Government Railway Police reached the location first. Upon assessment, officials found that the incident site fell outside the outer signal area. Due to jurisdiction reasons, the case was transferred to the local police.

Soon after, officers from the Kazi Mohammadpur police station arrived at the spot. The area was secured and necessary legal procedures were initiated. The body was taken into custody and sent to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination.

Family Details and Living Situation

Family members arrived at the site after receiving information from the police. Sanya’s uncle, Mukesh Singh, told officers that she was the middle child among three sisters. He said the family had recently celebrated the marriage of the eldest sister, which took place around one and a half months ago.

To focus fully on her exam preparation, Sanya had been living in Muzaffarpur with her younger sister. The younger sister is a college student. Both sisters shared a rented room near the Khabda area. They supported each other while preparing for their respective academic goals.

Mobile Phone Missing, Police Begin Technical Probe

Police officials stated that Sanya’s mobile phone was not recovered from the incident spot. It is still unclear whether the phone was left at her rented accommodation or elsewhere. The absence of the phone has become an important part of the investigation.

Police teams are now examining the rented room where the sisters lived. Investigators will check mobile call details and social media activity. The aim is to understand whether Sanya was under mental stress, academic pressure, or facing any personal difficulties before the incident.

Initial Refusal for Postmortem Due to Shock

According to police officials, the family initially refused to allow the postmortem examination. They were in deep shock and emotionally shattered by the sudden loss. The grief made it difficult for them to agree to procedural requirements.

After counseling and explanation by senior police officers, the family consented to the postmortem. Following the completion of legal formalities, the examination was conducted. Police said the postmortem report is awaited and will play a key role in the investigation.

Family Devastated by Sudden Loss

The news of Sanya’s death left her family completely broken. Her younger sister, who lived and studied with her, was inconsolable. She reportedly broke down repeatedly and fainted several times. The emotional scene at the hospital and residence was distressing.

Sanya’s father, Deepak Kumar Singh, is a farmer by profession. He was seen in deep shock after losing his daughter at such a young age. Relatives, neighbors, and villagers gathered to console the family. A wave of mourning spread through Govindpur Bela village.

Police Investigating All Possible Angles

Police officials said the case is being investigated thoroughly. They are examining whether exam-related stress played any role. Other personal, academic, or emotional factors are also under scrutiny. Officers said no conclusion will be drawn without evidence.

Once the family regains some emotional stability, detailed statements will be recorded. The younger sister will be asked about Sanya’s routine, friendships, and behavior. Police also plan to question coaching staff, classmates, and close contacts to gather more information.

Rising Mental Pressure on Competitive Exam Aspirants

The incident has once again highlighted the growing mental burden on students preparing for competitive examinations. Increasing competition, fear of failure, and social expectations often create intense pressure. Many students live away from their families, which can increase emotional stress.

Experts say such pressure often remains unnoticed until a tragic incident occurs. The lack of open discussion around mental health makes the situation more serious for young aspirants.

Need for Focus on Student Mental Health

Education experts and social observers have stressed the need for emotional support systems. Families and coaching institutes are being urged to monitor students’ mental well-being. Counseling support and open communication can help students cope better.

The tragic death of Sanya Kumari serves as a painful reminder of these challenges. As the investigation continues, authorities hope to identify the exact circumstances behind the incident. Police said further clarity will emerge after receiving the postmortem report.
