CSIR UGC NET December 2025 Exam Guidelines : Important Information for Candidates

Published on

The CSIR UGC NET December 2025 exam, organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a significant event for candidates aiming to build a career in science and research. Today, December 18, 2025, marks the beginning of this exam, which will be conducted across various centers nationwide. This exam will be held in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and will be split into two shifts. As candidates prepare for this important exam, it is essential to be aware of the guidelines to ensure a smooth experience and avoid last-minute confusion.

Exam Schedule and Shifts

The CSIR UGC NET exam will take place in two shifts, as per the NTA’s schedule:

  • Morning Shift: From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

  • Afternoon Shift: From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Candidates are advised to reach their exam centers on time as per the “reporting time” mentioned on their admit card. Once the gate closes, entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.

Important Guidelines for Candidates

It is crucial for candidates to follow the official guidelines provided by NTA to avoid any issues during the exam. Here are the essential guidelines:

  1. Admit Card Requirement: Candidates must carry a printed copy or photocopy of their admit card to the exam center. Entry will not be allowed without the admit card.

  2. Identification Documents: In addition to the admit card, candidates must bring a valid photo ID card. Accepted IDs include Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, PAN Card, or Ration Card. Candidates should also bring a passport-size photograph (the same as the one uploaded in the application form).

  3. For PwD Candidates: Candidates belonging to the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category must bring their PwD certificate to the exam center.

  4. Prohibited Items: Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual materials, calculators, documents, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with calculating functions, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pagers, or any other electronic gadgets. These items are strictly prohibited.

  5. No Smoking or Chewing Tobacco: Smoking, chewing tobacco, spitting, or any other form of misconduct is strictly prohibited in the examination hall.

  6. Bags and Personal Items: Candidates should not bring any items like instruments, geometry boxes, handbags, purses, paper, stationery, food, snacks, or beverages (loose or packaged). No metal objects are allowed inside the exam hall.

  7. Responsibility for Lost Items: NTA will not be responsible for any loss of items or theft that may occur in the examination center.

  8. Reporting Time: It is important for candidates to arrive at the exam center at the time mentioned on their admit card to avoid overcrowding at the center.

  9. Arrival Time: Candidates must reach the exam center at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam. Entry to the center will be closed 30 minutes prior to the exam’s start time.

  10. Late Entry Prohibition: Under no circumstances will late entry be permitted into the exam center after the exam has started.

  11. Biometric Data Collection: At the exam center, candidates’ biometric information will be recorded as part of the verification process.

  12. Seating Arrangements: Candidates are required to sit at their designated seats as soon as the exam hall opens. Any attempt to change seats will be considered inappropriate and could lead to disqualification.

  13. Absence from Exam: Candidates must not leave their assigned seat or the examination hall before the exam duration has been completed. Permission to leave early will not be granted without prior approval from the center superintendent or the relevant invigilator.

  14. Signature and Photo on Attendance Sheet: Candidates must sign the attendance sheet and affix their photograph at the designated spot on the sheet.

  15. Adherence to Exam Duration: Candidates are expected to stay in the exam hall for the entire duration of the exam. They cannot leave the hall before the exam concludes, unless permitted by the center superintendent.

The CSIR UGC NET December 2025 exam is a crucial step for aspiring scientists and researchers. It is important to follow the guidelines provided by the National Testing Agency to ensure a smooth and successful exam day. Candidates should make sure they have all the necessary documents, such as the admit card, valid photo ID, and any additional certificates required, before heading to the exam center. By adhering to the guidelines, candidates can avoid any unnecessary delays or complications. Best of luck to all the candidates taking the CSIR UGC NET December 2025 exam!
