BPSC AEDO Exam 2026 : Recruitment Process and Important Details

Published on

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the recruitment exam dates for the post of Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO). The exam will be conducted in three phases. The scheduled dates for these phases are 10th and 11th January 2026, 12th and 13th January 2026, and 15th and 16th January 2026. This decision has been made in light of the large number of applicants. As the exam is being held in multiple phases, the results will be processed using the Equipercentile Equating method. This technique will ensure that the scores from different phases are standardized and treated equally.

Extended Application Window for AEDO Recruitment

The application window for the BPSC AEDO recruitment has been reopened. Candidates who were unable to apply previously can now submit their online applications from 5th December 2025 to 12th December 2025. The final date for submission of applications remains 26th September 2025. All other conditions from the earlier advertisement will continue to apply.

Number of Applicants and Reserved Positions

The recruitment process has attracted a significant response, with a total of 9.7 lakh applications for 935 vacant positions. This marks a new record for BPSC, as this is the highest number of applications ever received for a single recruitment. The positions are reserved across various categories, ensuring a fair representation for different sections of society. These include:

  • 93 positions for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)

Selection Process for BPSC AEDO Recruitment

The recruitment process will consist of a written examination. There will be no interview stage for this recruitment. The written exam will include objective-type questions, and negative marking will be applied. For every incorrect answer, one-third of the marks allotted for that question will be deducted. The written exam will be divided into three papers, each focused on a specific subject. The details of the exam pattern are as follows:

  • General Language Section: This paper will be divided into two parts. Part 1 will cover General English (30 marks), and Part 2 will cover General Hindi (70 marks). A total of 100 questions will be asked, and candidates will have 2 hours to complete this section.

  • General Studies Section: This paper will consist of 100 questions, carrying 100 marks. Candidates will have 2 hours to complete this section.

  • General Aptitude Section: This paper will also consist of 100 questions, carrying 100 marks, with a time limit of 2 hours.

Key Takeaways for Applicants

The BPSC AEDO exam is an important recruitment process, and candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying. The reopening of the application window gives another opportunity to those who missed the previous deadline. It is essential for applicants to thoroughly prepare for the written exam, as it will play a crucial role in the selection process. The negative marking system means that candidates must be cautious while attempting questions.

The three-phase examination process, combined with the application of the Equipercentile Equating method, will ensure that all candidates are evaluated fairly, regardless of the phase in which they appear. With a record number of applicants, this recruitment process is one of the most anticipated in Bihar.

The BPSC AEDO recruitment exam promises to be a significant opportunity for candidates aspiring to work in the education sector in Bihar. With a large number of vacancies and a rigorous selection process, it is essential for applicants to carefully review the requirements and prepare accordingly.
