Bihar Weather : Winter Intensifies, Residents Face Harsh Cold Conditions

Published on

As winter sets in across Bihar, the state is experiencing a significant drop in temperature, affecting daily life. According to the latest forecast from the Meteorological Department, temperatures have plummeted, with the minimum temperature in the Kaimur district recorded at 9.9°C. Weather experts have predicted that the cold will intensify over the next two days, with further dips in temperature expected across the state.

Impact of Cold Weather on Daily Life in Bihar

The biting cold, which started to grip Bihar on Monday, has severely impacted the routine activities of residents. Fog and reduced visibility in the morning hours have slowed down traffic, with vehicles moving at a sluggish pace due to low visibility. The temperature drop has also confined many people to their homes, with many preferring to stay indoors to avoid the chill. The Meteorological Department has indicated that the temperature will continue to fall in the coming days, and an increase in foggy conditions has been predicted for various districts of Bihar.

Districts Affected by Drop in Temperature

The weather forecast suggests that, in the next five days, areas like West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran will see temperatures dipping to 1-3°C. This will lead to even colder mornings and nights, with people in these regions bracing for an uncomfortable chill. Meanwhile, the southern, central, and northeastern parts of Bihar are expected to experience little to no change in minimum temperatures.

Fog and Cold Weather Pervade Bihar

The cold wave in Bihar is not just accompanied by a drop in temperature but also by an increase in foggy conditions. The Meteorological Department has forecasted that light to moderate fog will persist over the next two days, especially in areas such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Aurangabad, Bhagalpur, Sasaram, and Kaimur. On Monday, visibility in Gaya dropped to just 500 meters due to thick fog, further complicating daily travel for commuters. The fog is expected to remain particularly dense in the morning and late-night hours, making visibility a challenge for the coming days.

Drop in Temperature Across Bihar

The sudden drop in temperatures across the state can be attributed to a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal. This weather system caused a sharp decline in both daytime and nighttime temperatures on Monday. In Kishanganj, the maximum temperature reached 28.4°C, while the minimum temperature in Kaimur recorded a chilly 9.9°C. Experts predict that temperatures may drop by an additional 3-4°C in the next 24 hours, further intensifying the cold wave in Bihar.

Cold Wave Alert Issued by Meteorological Department

Given the drastic changes in weather, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for residents of Bihar, urging caution as temperatures continue to fall. The cold wave has already begun to disrupt normal life, with schools and other institutions advising people to take precautions against the cold. In particular, the morning fog and low visibility are expected to cause delays in transportation, so commuters are advised to stay updated on weather conditions.

What to Expect in the Coming Days

Looking ahead, the weather department has predicted that the majority of the state will experience dry weather on Tuesday. Winds are expected to blow at a moderate pace (around 30 km/h) from the west, which may add to the chill in the air. The next three days are expected to bring a mix of chilly mornings and relatively milder afternoons. The maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 24-28°C, while the minimum temperature will hover between 10-15°C. Despite the dry conditions, residents can expect the cold to persist, and the intensity of the chill may increase, especially during early mornings and late evenings.

As winter deepens across Bihar, residents are advised to prepare for the harsh weather conditions in the coming days. The sudden temperature drop, along with thick fog, is likely to make life difficult for many. Travelers are urged to exercise caution, especially during the early morning and late-night hours, when visibility will be at its lowest. With the Meteorological Department predicting a further drop in temperatures, people are advised to stay indoors whenever possible and take necessary precautions to avoid the health risks associated with extreme cold weather.

In conclusion, the winter chill in Bihar is expected to continue, with temperatures falling further and foggy conditions persisting. The state’s weather department has issued alerts to keep residents informed about the changing conditions, emphasizing the need for safety during this cold wave. As we move forward into the winter season, the people of Bihar should brace for more cold days ahead.
