Bihar Weather Update : Cold Conditions to Intensify in Seemanchal and Mithila Regions

Published on

As winter takes a firm hold across Bihar, the state is bracing for an extended period of cold weather. The temperature has been steadily dropping, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures showing a noticeable decline. According to the Meteorological Department, dry conditions will dominate Bihar over the next five days, but light fog is expected to persist during the early morning and late evening hours.

Temperature Trends and Expected Drops

In the past 24 hours, Gaya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 10 degrees Celsius, while Patna saw temperatures of 16.5 degrees Celsius. These figures indicate a marked decrease in temperature as winter settles over the region. Weather experts predict that the minimum temperatures across Bihar will continue to fall in the coming days, leading to an intensification of cold conditions in many districts. This drop in temperature is expected to affect daily life, particularly in the morning and evening hours when the cold is more pronounced.

Persistent Fog and Reduced Visibility

As winter progresses, the state is also experiencing increasing instances of morning fog, which is already covering several parts of Bihar. The fog is expected to reduce visibility significantly during the early hours of the day, posing challenges for commuters and those traveling during the dawn hours. The Meteorological Centre has reported that the minimum temperature could fall by another 2 to 3 degrees Celsius starting Tuesday, which will further exacerbate the cold, especially during the early mornings and evenings.

Factors Contributing to the Cold Wave

Meteorologists point to a variety of factors contributing to the significant drop in temperatures. Clear skies have allowed heat to escape into the atmosphere, which is causing the night temperatures to dip. The absence of a Western Disturbance over northern India is also playing a role in the cooler conditions. In addition to these atmospheric conditions, cold winds blowing from the northern regions are amplifying the chill, further cooling down the environment. Despite these developments, officials have clarified that severe cold conditions are not yet expected in most parts of Bihar.

Seemanchal and Mithila: Severe Cold Conditions Expected

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for districts in the Seemanchal and Mithila regions. These areas, which include Katihar, Purnia, Araria, Khagaria, and Kishanganj, are likely to experience more severe cold conditions, particularly during the early morning hours. Strong, cold winds are expected to make the temperature feel even colder, with the minimum temperature continuing to decline. The intensity of the cold is expected to increase as these regions face prolonged periods of chilly weather, making daily activities difficult, especially in the early hours of the day.

Patna: A Mild Dip in Temperatures Ahead

In Patna, the capital city of Bihar, the weather is currently dry, but temperatures are gradually decreasing. At present, minimum temperatures in Patna are ranging between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists forecast that these temperatures could drop by around 2 degrees Celsius in the coming days. While Patna is not expected to experience severe cold conditions in the immediate future, the city will gradually feel the chill as the winter season progresses.

Cold Conditions to Strengthen in the Coming Week

Weather experts predict that the cold conditions in Bihar will become more intense as the state moves into the last week of November. The drop in temperature will likely signal the onset of a stronger winter phase, which could bring even colder weather to the region. The gradual intensification of winter weather will likely affect daily life, especially as people begin to rely more heavily on heating sources and warm clothing to cope with the dropping temperatures.

Bihar residents, particularly those in the Seemanchal and Mithila regions, should prepare for colder conditions in the coming days. The Meteorological Department’s forecast suggests that the cold will continue to intensify, with dry weather and persistent fog adding to the challenges. While Patna may not face extreme cold conditions immediately, the overall winter chill will gradually increase, affecting the entire state. As the temperatures continue to dip, it is essential for people to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe during the colder months ahead.
