Bihar Heavy Rainfall Expected Due to Low-Pressure Area in the Bay of Bengal

Published on

The weather in Bihar continues to be affected by the low-pressure area that has formed in the Bay of Bengal. According to the meteorological department, the state will experience prolonged rainfall for the next 24 to 48 hours. As a result of this weather system, the festive celebrations of Durga Puja could be disrupted by heavy showers. The ongoing rainfall has raised concerns, particularly for those planning outdoor events during this festive period.

Forecast for South Bihar: Heavy Rain Expected

The meteorological department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several districts in South Bihar, including the capital city of Patna and Gaya. According to the forecast, 13 districts in the region are likely to experience significant rainfall throughout the day. These include districts such as Siwan, Buxar, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Lakhisarai, and Munger. With the rain, winds might also pick up speed, reaching up to 30 to 40 km/h.

Given these conditions, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for the mentioned districts, urging residents to stay alert. The rain is expected to cause a temporary drop in temperature, but it may also be accompanied by discomfort due to the high humidity levels.

Patna and Gaya: A Closer Look at the Temperature and Weather Conditions

In Patna, the weather today is predicted to be warm and humid despite the rainfall. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to stay around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius. Although the forecast suggests some relief from the heat with a slight cloud cover in the afternoon, it is unlikely to lead to significant rainfall in the city.

On Thursday, despite the hot sun, Patna experienced a brief period of cloud cover in the afternoon, but the rain stayed away. As the week progresses, the city will continue to see intermittent rain showers, offering some relief but not enough to bring a drastic drop in temperature.

Other Areas: Rainfall and Temperature Updates

Moving to other areas in the state, recent weather reports from Jamui indicate light rainfall over the last 24 hours. In terms of temperature, Bhagalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius. Patna’s recorded temperature was 34.9 degrees Celsius for the maximum and 27.8 degrees Celsius for the minimum.

As the rain continues in South and Central Bihar, these regions are likely to experience sporadic rainfall, making the air feel sticky and humid. For North Bihar, however, the prospects of heavy rain are lower. The area is expected to have a few clouds in the sky, but the chances of substantial rainfall remain slim. People in the northern parts of the state will likely face the uncomfortable combination of high humidity and warmer temperatures.

Impact on Durga Puja Celebrations

As Durga Puja celebrations approach, the weather conditions are becoming a concern for many residents. With continuous rainfall expected, the festivities may be disrupted by the wet weather, causing inconvenience to devotees and participants. The atmosphere of the celebration could be dampened due to the ongoing showers, and outdoor events might face challenges due to waterlogging and flooding in some areas.

Looking ahead, the rain will continue to affect the southern and central districts of Bihar over the next few days. The weather is expected to remain unpredictable, with intermittent rainfall expected across these regions. The overall trend will likely bring some relief from the sweltering heat but at the cost of high humidity. Meanwhile, residents of North Bihar may not see significant rainfall, although the cloudy conditions will still contribute to a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere.

In conclusion, Bihar’s weather over the next 24 to 48 hours promises to be a mixture of heavy rainfall and high humidity. While some parts of the state, particularly South and Central Bihar, will continue to see rain, other areas like North Bihar will experience milder conditions. This weather will not only affect daily life but also pose challenges for ongoing celebrations like Durga Puja. Residents are advised to stay prepared for the rain and humidity in the coming days and follow any weather updates issued by local authorities.
