Bihar to Get New Airports and Planetarium, Announces Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary

Published on

Bihar is set to witness major infrastructural development with announcements regarding new airports and a planetarium. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary confirmed that tenders for the proposed Raxaul and Muzaffarpur airports will be floated this month. Additionally, construction of a planetarium in Motihari will begin immediately.

These announcements were made during a felicitation program and an agricultural, livestock, and fisheries development fair at the Mahatma Gandhi Auditorium in Motihari.

Airports in Raxaul and Muzaffarpur

The Deputy CM emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding aviation infrastructure in Bihar. He revealed that the tender process for Raxaul and Muzaffarpur airports would commence this month. The development of these airports is expected to enhance connectivity not just within Bihar but also with neighboring regions, boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.

Raxaul’s location near the Indo-Nepal border makes it strategically significant. Improved airport facilities in Muzaffarpur, an important urban hub, will further strengthen Bihar’s air connectivity.

Planetarium for Motihari

Another key announcement made by Choudhary was the immediate start of the construction process for a planetarium in Motihari. The project is seen as a significant step toward promoting science education and tourism in the region. A planetarium in Motihari will not only provide educational opportunities for students but also attract visitors, enriching the cultural and scientific landscape of the city.

Remarks on International Trade and Tariffs

During the event, Choudhary also touched upon international trade policies, particularly tariffs imposed by the United States. He remarked that despite a 400 percent tax, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not bow down. He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting the Swadeshi campaign, encouraging the use of locally manufactured products across India.

Tax Reforms and Infrastructure Projects

Highlighting financial reforms, the Deputy CM stated that the government is working on reducing the current four tax slabs to two. Such a move, he explained, would simplify the taxation system and benefit businesses as well as consumers.

He also shared updates on major road projects, mentioning ongoing work on the Siliguri–Gorakhpur Expressway and the Haldia–Raxaul Expressway. These projects are expected to play a critical role in enhancing road connectivity across Bihar and linking the state to major trade corridors.

Agricultural Development in Bihar

Choudhary praised the contributions of Member of Parliament Radha Mohan Singh in advancing the agricultural sector. He highlighted how Singh’s efforts have brought about significant growth and better infrastructure for farmers.

He pointed out that the demand for ethanol factories has directly benefited maize farmers, leading to a price increase from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 per quintal. According to him, this improvement has provided farmers with better income opportunities, ensuring long-term agricultural growth in Bihar.

Bihar’s Role in India’s Progress

The Deputy CM concluded his address with a strong statement: “India will be great only when Bihar becomes great.” He emphasized that Bihar’s development in infrastructure, agriculture, and education is key to the nation’s progress.

The announcements of new airports in Raxaul and Muzaffarpur and the planetarium in Motihari signal a new era of growth for Bihar. Combined with tax reforms, expressway projects, and agricultural advancements, these initiatives highlight the government’s focus on holistic development.

With the tendering process for airports starting this month and the planetarium’s construction kicking off immediately, Bihar is set to witness significant transformations in connectivity, science education, and overall economic growth.
