Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Bihar government in the appointments of the commission

KKN Gurugram Desk |  RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government, alleging rampant nepotism in recent appointments to various commissions. In a press conference held in Patna, Tejashwi criticized the ruling coalition for what he termed a “family-based distribution of power,” sarcastically suggesting the formation of “Brother-in-law Commission” and “Wives Commission” to reflect the current state of affairs in Bihar.

His statements have sparked a fresh round of political controversy in the state, particularly as the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections approach.

Allegations of Family-Based Appointments in Bihar Commissions

Tejashwi Yadav did not mince words when he alleged that several recent commission appointments in Bihar have been given to relatives of NDA leaders, bypassing merit and transparency.

“Chirag Paswan’s brother-in-law, Santosh Manjhi’s brother-in-law, the husband of MP Shambhavi Choudhary, and even the wife of a senior officer have all been appointed to commissions. This is not a democratic setup; it’s turning into a private family affair,” said Tejashwi.

He mockingly proposed that the government might as well form dedicated commissions for brothers-in-law and wives, referring to them as “Jija Commission” and “Mehraru Commission” in local parlance.

Targeting the NDA’s “Selective” Anti-Dynasty Stand

Tejashwi went further by accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP of double standards when it comes to family politics.

“Every time the PM comes to Bihar, he accuses us of promoting dynastic politics. But has he ever looked within his own alliance?” he asked.
“When his allies distribute positions among family members, it is overlooked. But if we stand with our family, it’s labeled nepotism.”

The remarks are seen as a strategic counterattack to ongoing BJP narratives that accuse RJD of practicing ‘parivarvaad’ (dynastic politics).

RSS Allegations in Appointments Stir Further Controversy

Tejashwi Yadav also claimed that appointments are being made under the influence of RSS quotas, indirectly alleging that ideological favoritism has penetrated administrative processes.

“Now even commission members are being appointed based on their association with the RSS. Where is the meritocracy? Where is transparency?” he questioned.

This statement adds fuel to the ongoing debate about the RSS’s indirect role in governance, a topic that has often drawn political criticism from opposition parties.

Sharp Comments on CM Nitish Kumar’s Political Position

In one of the more personal parts of the interaction, Tejashwi questioned Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s current political stature, suggesting that he is no longer in control of the government he nominally leads.

“No one really knows the condition of Nitish Kumar today. The people around him, whom I call the ‘Bhunjha Party’ (snack-eating yes-men), are running the show. They are doing whatever they want,” he said.

This jibe underscores a growing perception that Nitish Kumar’s authority is being undermined, especially since aligning again with the NDA.

Tejashwi Questions Affordability of New Airport Project

The RJD leader also commented on the new airport infrastructure projects being launched in Bihar, raising questions about their affordability and accessibility for the average citizen.

“It’s great that a new airport is being built, but who decides the airfares? The Prime Minister said even those wearing slippers would be able to fly. Has that really happened?”
“Ticket prices are sky-high. What’s the use of fancy terminals if common people can’t afford to travel?” he added.

His comments appear aimed at challenging the optics of development and bringing focus back to ground-level issues like affordability.

Rising Unemployment and Inflation Remain Core Concerns

Tejashwi Yadav also highlighted unemployment, inflation, and a lack of basic services as ongoing crises that the current administration is failing to address.

“Youth unemployment is rising alarmingly in both Bihar and across India. Yet, the government seems content just distributing ration,” he said.
“There is no focus on generating jobs, improving education, or strengthening healthcare. People need long-term solutions, not symbolic relief,” he added.

By touching on these core governance failures, Tejashwi is seeking to recenter the political debate on public welfare and socio-economic issues.

A Calculated Political Strategy Ahead of Bihar Elections 2025

Tejashwi’s press conference is being viewed as a carefully timed political move aimed at:

  • Exposing contradictions within the NDA

  • Reinforcing RJD’s anti-establishment stance

  • Reclaiming the development and employment narrative

With Bihar’s political temperature rising, such aggressive public statements are expected to intensify as the election cycle progresses.

Political analysts suggest that RJD is looking to build a fresh connect with youth, minorities, and backward classes by projecting itself as the voice of the marginalized and exposing the gaps in the ruling coalition’s governance model.

Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks on the alleged nepotism in Bihar commissions, along with his criticism of Prime Minister Modi’s selective silence and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political relevance, have added fresh dynamism to Bihar’s political narrative.

As Bihar heads into a crucial electoral year, the battle lines are being drawn sharply between the development vs dynasty debate, with RJD making a clear attempt to turn the tables on the BJP-JDU alliance.

Whether these pointed attacks resonate with the voters remains to be seen—but one thing is certain: Tejashwi is not pulling any punches in the run-up to Bihar 2025.
