KKN Gurugram Desk | The weather in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to take a drastic turn over the next three days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for potential thunderstorms, dust storms, and heavy rainfall across the region. This weather shift is expected to provide some relief from the intense heat that Delhi has been experiencing.

Partial Cloud Cover with Light Rain Expected in Delhi

According to the latest weather forecast, Delhi will witness a period of partial cloud cover, with light to moderate rainfall occurring intermittently. Along with rain, there could be thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning, which might cause localized disruptions. The forecast predicts that these weather conditions will occur at varying intervals over the next few days.

Relief from Scorching Heat: Maximum Temperature to Drop Slightly

The capital is expected to experience a drop in temperature due to the incoming weather system. The maximum temperature in Delhi is predicted to range between 38°C to 40°C, which is slightly lower than the usual end-of-May temperatures. This reduction in temperature will offer much-needed respite from the sweltering heat that has been dominating the region.

This cooling trend is expected to bring some relief to the residents, as the high temperatures in May typically result in uncomfortable conditions, especially during the late afternoons and early evenings.

Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Likely in Delhi-NCR

Alongside the thunderstorms, gusty winds are also anticipated to blow across Delhi and surrounding areas. Winds with speeds ranging from 30 km/h to 50 km/h are likely, which could lead to temporary disruptions in transportation and daily activities. Dust storms may further add to the inconvenience, reducing visibility in some areas.

The IMD has urged residents to be cautious and stay updated with the latest weather advisories. It’s advisable to avoid outdoor activities during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms, as these conditions could be dangerous, especially for commuters.

Weather Forecast for NCR: Heavy Rain and Winds to Persist

The IMD has confirmed that the weather in NCR will follow a similar pattern. Areas like Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are likely to experience heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. These conditions are expected to prevail intermittently over the next three days, bringing much-needed relief after a prolonged spell of intense heat.

Rain and Lightning to Continue: What to Expect

The combination of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall will not only cool down the region but may also bring some disruptions to everyday life. The intensity of the rainfall will vary from one locality to another, but the risk of lightning strikes remains high. Residents are advised to stay indoors during periods of heavy rainfall and avoid using electronic devices that may be affected by power surges due to lightning.

What Measures to Take During the Weather Alert

With the IMD’s weather warning in place, residents of Delhi-NCR should take the following precautions:

  1. Stay indoors during thunderstorms: To avoid accidents related to lightning strikes, it’s recommended to stay indoors and refrain from using electrical appliances.

  2. Monitor traffic conditions: Gusty winds and heavy rain could cause disruptions in transportation. Keep track of the latest traffic reports, especially if you need to travel during the storm.

  3. Secure outdoor items: Strong winds can blow objects around. Make sure to secure any loose items outside your home or office.

  4. Stay hydrated: Even with a slight drop in temperature, it’s important to drink plenty of water and stay cool to avoid heat-related illnesses.

  5. Prepare for power outages: Lightning strikes and heavy rainfall can sometimes lead to power outages. Be sure to have backup sources of light, such as flashlights, in case of such disruptions.

After days of sweltering heat, the upcoming weather shift in Delhi and NCR is being welcomed by many. While the thunderstorms and heavy rains might bring temporary disruptions, the drop in temperature will be a welcome break for residents enduring the intense late May heat. The combination of rain, thunder, and winds will not only offer relief but will also play a vital role in bringing the temperatures back to more manageable levels.

In conclusion, while it’s important to stay informed about the changing weather, the forecast suggests that the next few days will offer a respite from the heat, with the possibility of cooler and more comfortable conditions ahead.
