KKN Gurugram Desk | The much-awaited Bihar Bullet Train project is set to change the way people travel in the state. With the ability to run at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, the bullet train promises to revolutionize transportation between cities. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has already started working on this ambitious project, which will span across five districts in Bihar, covering a 260-kilometer elevated track.

This article will delve into the specifics of the Bihar Bullet Train project, detailing the track constructioncompensation plans for landowners, and the advanced features that will make this high-speed rail corridor one of the most modern transportation systems in India.

Bihar Bullet Train: Construction and Development

The proposed Bihar Bullet Train will be an integral part of the Varanasi-Patna-Hooghly High-Speed Rail Corridor. This corridor, with a total length of approximately 799.293 kilometers, will connect important cities, including VaranasiPatna, and Howrah. The Bihar leg of the project will see the construction of an elevated track across five districts in the state, namely PatnaBuxarAraJehanabad, and Gaya. The elevated track is expected to cover a total distance of 260 kilometers.

Project Phases: Timeline for Completion

The project will be completed in two phases:

  1. Phase 1: The elevated track will be constructed from Varanasi, passing through DDUAraBuxarPatna, and Gaya, all the way to Howrah.

  2. Phase 2: The second phase will involve the construction of a track from Delhi to Varanasi.

The first phase of the project, focusing on Bihar, will play a crucial role in significantly reducing travel time between these cities.

Patna’s Contribution to the Project

In Patna, a 60.9-kilometer long elevated track will be built, requiring a land acquisition of 135.06 hectares. The construction will ensure that Patna becomes a central node in the high-speed rail network, connecting it efficiently to other cities.

This ambitious initiative will make it possible to travel from Varanasi to Howrah in just 3-4 hours, significantly reducing travel time. The land acquisition process has already commenced, ensuring that the project moves forward smoothly.

Land Acquisition and Compensation Plans for Bihar’s Farmers

The land acquisition process for the Bihar Bullet Train has been initiated in the state, particularly focusing on 58 villages in Patna. These villages are expected to be directly impacted by the construction of the elevated track. Landowners in these areas will be compensated as per a generous compensation plan.

Compensation Details:

  • Rural Areas: Landowners in rural areas will receive four times the circle rate as compensation for their land.

  • Urban Areas: Landowners in urban areas will be compensated with two times the circle rate.

This compensation scheme is expected to ensure fair payment to the affected landowners while promoting the state’s infrastructural development.
