Bihar Road Minister Thanks Central Government

Bihar’s Minister for Road Construction, Nitin Navin, expressed gratitude to the Central Government for approving this ambitious project. He stated that this expressway would play a key role in modernizing Bihar’s transportation infrastructure.

The project will also increase the total length of National Highways (NH) in Bihar, making the transportation system more efficient and robust.

Expressway Route: Districts Covered in Bihar

The Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway will pass through eight major districts in Bihar:

  1. West Champaran
  2. East Champaran
  3. Sheohar
  4. Sitamarhi
  5. Madhubani
  6. Supaul
  7. Araria
  8. Kishanganj

In addition to these districts, the expressway will also pass through 39 blocks and 313 villages, providing direct benefits to local residents and businesses.

Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development

This mega infrastructure project is expected to boost economic development in North Bihar. Some major economic benefits include:

✅ Better road connectivity for remote areas
✅ New job opportunities during and after construction
✅ Boost in trade and commerce across Bihar and neighboring states
✅ Faster transportation of goods and passengers
✅ Increased land value along the expressway route

The expressway will also serve as a vital corridor for connecting North Bihar to Eastern and Northeastern India, thereby strengthening trade relations.

New Bridges on Gandak and Kosi Rivers

As part of the expressway construction plan, major realignment and development of new bridges on the Gandak River and Kosi River have also been proposed. This will ensure seamless and secure connectivity for vehicles traveling across these regions.

NHAI Approves Spur Connectivity to Major Cities

The Bihar Government had requested that major district headquarters such as:

  • Bettiah
  • Motihari
  • Darbhanga
  • Madhubani

be connected to the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. In response, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the development of spur connectivity to these cities.

This move will further improve accessibility and road connectivity, making it easier for residents and businesses in these regions to benefit from the expressway project.

Why is This Expressway Important for Bihar?

The Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway is one of the biggest highway projects in Bihar. Here’s why this expressway is critical for the state’s infrastructure growth:

???? Reduces travel time between Bihar and major cities in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and the Northeast.
???? Supports Bihar’s economic growth by improving trade routes.
???? Enhances safety with a high-speed corridor designed for 120 km/h.
???? Strengthens Bihar’s National Highway network, making transportation smoother.
???? Encourages investments in industrial and real estate sectors.

With this expressway in Bihar, the state’s logistics and mobility will see massive improvements, attracting businesses and investors.

The approval of the Gorakhpur-Siliguri 6-Lane Greenfield Expressway is a game-changer for Bihar’s infrastructure. With major investments, economic benefits, and improved road connectivity, this project will transform North Bihar’s transportation network.

As the construction progresses, the expressway will unlock new development opportunities, making Bihar a key transit hub in Eastern India.
